I just can't warm up to plastic firearms

I'm recently getting back into range shooting and my small collection now consists of S&W .32 revolver ( 70's vintage ), 40 cal. stainless steel 4006 , .357 mag 686 Talo and a Ruger 22 cal semi auto. Also have three vintage 22 cal rifles all bolt action. Every one of these guns are made of steel/stainless steel with wood grips/stocks. I've been going to the local gun shows for the past two months to look at various pistols/rifles/shotguns. I have come to the conclusion I will probably never purchase a plastic weapon of any type. They just don't do anything for me. I see guys/gals at the shows just salivating over them but I don't even look at them. Maybe I'm missing out but to me they just wreak of cheap. For those of you that have them and are happy with them great but they just aren't for me. I know my opinion may be in the minority and I'm OK with that....... I guess I'm just old school !

I have a few Tupperware bits of a few guns but I am like you, I just am not a fan. My wife likes hers but it is hers.
I'll keep the cold metal and warm wood as well.

Been a 1911 fan for years, (50). What I like about a steel type gun is if you need to you can beat a bad guy to death with it.

I'm with you guys. I have one, a S&W Shield in .40S&W. I very rarely carry or shoot it. Would rather carry my PPK in a shoulder rig. I'd even trade it but hell I don't think they are even worth much. Maybe get $150 for it?

Plastic gun has utility value, that's about it. It's got shiny "shopping mall" appeal. Metal firearms represent tradition, and craftsmanship- and they aren't poured out by the hundreds every hour.

I got a friend who's a bit of a "Store bought Prince"- he only buys showy, big-name items and he's into firearms. Guess what virtually every new handgun he buys?

Tupperware, all of 'em.. His only all metal gun is a Para 14.45 that I sold him...

The plastic guns are a tool, and the do the job really well. Think of them like a Toyota Camry, you could drive them everyday for years and put thousands of miles on them without problems. I've had a few plastic guns, but what I really lyst after and will have next are some non.plastic guns. I want a 1911, a Browning High Power and one of these exactly as in the photo (it's going to be my next)

I only have one plastic firearm. I have to admit, it shoots pretty cool.

I keep it locked up to guarantee that it isn't the victim of assault...........

Same here. I shot a bunch of modern plastic ones before buying my first, a 1911. Just traded my only plastic one, a Sig P250, for a Colt Trooper. The P250 replacement is a P938.

This is exactly right. For a tool, with a specific purpose, plastic suits fine. Daily-driving a plastic car is fine, because you're just using a tool. But that all metal beast you keep in the garage for weekend romps, well...

Had a USP compact, a Ruger P345 (gave away to friend) and ONE glock - a 27 (admittedly, I liked the Glock a lot) as my only tupperware purchases out of dozens of handguns....

Slimmed down my collection since I really never shoot anymore.

I have a simple SW Bodyguard (from the 80's) as my carry, a SW 1911PD that I like, Moisin Nagant rifles and a ton of Ruger 10/22's they are like craftsman tools to me.

No one buys a Glock for its looks. But mine is damn convenient for daily carry duty, is very accurate, goes bang every time and, if I ever had to "lose it," it wouldn't break my heart. Losing one of my SIGs or other nice guns would sting.

I just don' like the trigger system on glocks and their imitators. Plastic is a non issue for me.

I gave my 17 to a friend last year. Yep.
