Don't remember the name too clearly, but think it was 'Full Metal Jacket.' I was particularly impressed coz this VC was in a building kneecapping people at 200 yards, until the hero got the drop on her (the shooter). He shoots, takes down a wall behind her without damaging her in the slightest. She shoots at him and misses.

Alternatively, you could eat a dick.

Bob,

I will have to defer to you on dick eating.....you are the expert and I have absolutely zero experience.

There are so many things that are not accurate in movies that it would take forever to document them all. The whole idea of most movies is to suspend belief and just enjoy the show. Really, why should any of us care about the inaccuracies? Explosions in space don't make noise? Yes, I know that...but I still enjoy Star Wars movies just the same.

I'm kinda in WPOZZZ's camp.........all these cop shows, all the chick cops are ALL smokin hot, except for the goofy research chick. Then they all fly around in their G7....their offices are all modern, dark and glass.

I figured it out!
Whitewalls! On a Mustang! Hah!

M.D. Holloway 02-04-2014 07:55 PM

when was the last time you saw someone take a punch to the jaw and it only moves his head a little? Shyt, when i was a kid we would smack the shyt out of each other...but it was always one punch to the jaw or nose that ended the fight immediately...same as we entered 'adulthood'. flight scenes are silly...

And yes, female cops and scientists are always hot. I've been around geeks and the law all my life and I can count on maybe one finger the time I saw a smoking lab girl - they just don't make them.

And drinking booze...I like my Scotch like the next gal but the way they push down a shot like its colored water could only mean that...well...its colored water!

And the sex scenes, sorry but only on rare occasions does that much foreplay enter into the picture...

and some eating shots when there is a really hungry kid...looks like he/she is going to town on that turkey leg but not much meat is leaving the bone!

Car chases are funny, these guys could do pretty well in an autocross! Sorry, not many cars can perform like that and even less drivers...

And what about the drifter who always has a change of clothes? I consider myself an elite pack artist that can fit a weeks worth into a book bag but these folks look like they just wlaked out of a Banana Republic store every day!

And I always wonder where they come up with money...

Always seam to find an old friend in the city...ya, thats easy.

And no one is ever checking Facebook! Thats the clincher!!!

When I first moved to LA, Starsky and Hutch was on the air. I was amazed when I saw them drive into an alley I new was in Van Nuys (the San Fernando Valley) and come out of the alley in Venice (the beach) 20 miles away.

LeeH 02-04-2014 08:29 PM

My list:

Fight scenes where guys are taking one hit to the face after another and still coming back for more.

Those few strands of hair hanging down catching on the actress's eye lashes that then disappear and reappear as the camera cuts back and forth.

Flying people - dudes of the non-super hero variety jumping off 30 ft. balconies, out windows, etc and landing on their (not broken) feet.

Cars missing rear view mirrors and head rests.

Over the top car crashes that can only take place with the help of ramps, canons, cables, C4, etc.

Characters that walk away from the over the top car crashes described above.

Car dolly shots where the steering inputs don't match the car's movements.

Lee

I'm not a pyrotechnician but we don't use C4. Our guys go for flash, not overpressure. Lots of blackpowder lifters and some det-cord. Lots of propane poppers, gasoline bags, air mortars, etc. You'd be surprised at how good an effect you can get with air mortars loaded with cork, peat moss and a little sand.

It is all those Italian "Dub in" the sound fx guys faults...

The clipity clop of coconut shells on cement.for horses hooves ...and the K..zing of a bullet richoting off a rock....couple that with a Enrique Moricone score and you have a FIRSTA CLASS Western.....

Hugh - should have greenified my C4 comment. :)

None of that seems like real life. At least not like MY real life.

I think they speed up the guy's finish to fit the length of the movie.

How about the scene in one of the Star Wars movies where young Anakin Skywalker tries to land a damaged General Grievous' spaceship that somehow stays in one piece while emergency water ships sprays water directly (no effect of wind) onto the burning ship before landing? I had to laugh at that one.

No! There was a part of Star Wars that wasn't real?

I don't understand getting irked about them, but inaccuracies and discontinuities are amusing. Movies are supposed to be fun, and spotting these things is part of the fun. There is a great episode of The Sopranos where Tony is having dinner and the food moves around on his plate from shot to shot like claymation. It cracks me up.

911_Dude 02-05-2014 04:51 AM

Oh, heres one-

Since when did people start running fast enough to out run an explosion? Scene after scene of the hero and his girl beat feeting just ahead of the explosion shock front and leaping to safety.

You win teh interwebz!

Why doesn't my computer burble and buzz when searching data, and why doesn't it bleep when it finds the result? I want a movie computer - those are cool.

gwood 02-05-2014 07:32 AM

The various inanities involving guns don't really bother me. If they were shown accurately, nobody would watch the movie.

There are some things that make me laugh, though.

Spaceships operating in vacuum that bank to turn.

Actors that hang up the phone while still talking. It's like they subconciously know there's no one on the other end and they're in a hurry to get on with the scene.

And how many times is there a scene in some millionaire's sumptuous library, and in the background half the spines on the books have the dark horizontal titles of old Reder's Digest Condensed Books? I even see these in the backgrounds of talking heads on news programs.
