They can hack into the CIA or the Pentagon from any computer anywhere. And they can do it in seconds.

Even better are the technicians that can enhance a video and zoom in and read the license tag of a car a block away from the reflection in a window across the street from a ATM security video camera.

This is just pure funny. ^^

I had a hard time not laughing in one film were the Gov Detectives were using over the over the counter shot security cam footage to read the licence plate on a car parked outside a convenience store...

"Enlarge that image please over the liscence plate" :D

Not only are all doctors, nurses, and police super hot and look like the just walked out of a salon they also all wear custom tailored uniforms.

When someone gets shot or hit by a car... the first thing they do is run over and sit them up. The EMT's here can correct me, but I think you are supposed to leave them laying down.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ here but I am genuinely curious...

If you fire a .308 into the backside of a jet engine it will continue to function?

I was surprised by that fact, thinking he surely would have been mangled by the fall.

Interesting. I dont think the jumpers from the WTC were so tidy.

Like in Swordfish when the hacker(I forgot his name) is given a laptop and has 1 minute to gain access to whatever U.S. data base with a gun to his head AND getting a happy ending from Halle Berry.

Very much the exception. I was on the "Code" team to a jumper at my hospital, 6 floors onto dirt.
"Debris field" had a 5 m (5 yard) radius.

My brother attended a hot air ballooning accident...catastrophic balloon failure at 300 feet, ......not that neat either.

How about the one where the good guy WATCHED THE FINGERS of that nimble key pounding guy and then copied the keystrokes to hack into the computer.

This one is television, but still bothers me. On the original Star Trek, they had phasers and warp drive and transporters, but still had those tiny CRT monitors in the conference rooms and quarters.

In the movies, when the camera zooms in close on a person and they're creeping around in the basement or attic, it's even money that they're about to get really scared, or really killed.

Fast and the Furious movies are hard to watch. Saw the first one and parts of one where a Chrysler 300 is going 90MPH dragging a bank vault with a cable.

That was amusing.

In very busy downtown (insert any city at any time), our hero always finds a parking spot right out front.

jorian 02-07-2014 07:51 AM

During marathon rescue missions our hero will often go for days without food water or sleep. They might have hero drink some water but only to wet his or her shirt to show off pecs or nips.

jorian 02-07-2014 07:55 AM

When hero is fighting multiple baddies, they will surround him but only fight him one at a time. While waiting their turn they will gesticulate wildly and perform some practice moves a safe distance away.

My first part was kinda smart, but the rest wasn't. One of the turbine guys here should chip in but I don't think it would prevent a take off, no. The turbine would fail, as would most pistons, but it wouldn't be immediate and catastrophic. Then again, a flock of geese brought down an airliner so anything could happen.

For example, an A-10 uses a turbofan similar to a civie jet and they have come back with the turbines still spinning with 40-50 holes in the nacelle which would make me think at least a few rounds made it into the engine. I know the Warthog is a tough bird, but I am not aware the engines are all that much different than the S-3 has and I think they were developed from a civilian program.

Yup. The medical technology on Star Trek is pretty cool. They can replace organs and operate w/o cutting people open, even on beings that are not carbon based.

But baldness? Still stumped.

JavaBrewer 02-07-2014 09:38 AM

I remember the original Star Trek Enterprise helm had wheel dials

GH85Carrera 02-07-2014 10:15 AM

I was watching some move from the 1980s set in the future in the mid 22nd century. All the TVs and computers were CRT based and none bigger than a 32 inch.

Isaac Asimov wrote a story about the far future when everyone carried a small computer with them with all their personal information on it. He described the glowing red text of the display. :) His wildest imagination could not dream up the phone I have. With the high resolution color display. I can watch a movie or make a phone call. I have thousands of photos, thousands of songs, email and texting at my fingertips. I can even take amazing quality photos and video. Isaac had the data storage and connection to other computers and the very basic parts correct. We have come so much further.

The communicators on Star Trek could only let you talk. My phone can send data and color video. Capt. Kirks communicator is totally out of date to reality.

Another odd one. Know a woman who survived free fall accident. Neither parachute opened. She land from 10k ft on her back in the water off Miami. 10 mos later still in half cast, but she survived! Doc said because landed on back and organs were protected. Here is kicker... thinks chutes purposely packed wrong as the rigger was in love with her and it was not mutual.

I'll add that every time some one in a movie takes to the air ducts in the building, the ducts are shiny and spotless.

And they are able to have an inner city car chase at rush hour!

And there are no screws protruding into the duct! (I used to be a duct installer)

-The hero has a fist fight with someone and never makes a sound but jerks away and makes noise when the pretty girl cleans a scratch with alcohol.
-Almost every car chase runs through a plate glass window crossing the street or runs over a fruit cart on the sidewalk.
-Almost every car crash ends with an explosion.
-In old-time western or gangster movies, guys have fist fights but the hat stays on.
-(In the old Superman TV show) Superman would stand there and grin when the bad guy shoots at him but the bad guy runs out of bullets Superman would duck when the bad guy throws the empty gun at him.
-In Gilligan's Island they would make a generator out of coconuts and palm leaves but could never figure out how to build a boat!
