That's brutal. My heart goes out to you. My little niece was diagnosed with AML in October 2012. She's turning 7 in april. She just had a bone marrow transplant and is so far doing very well.
It can be beat. Marc |

This is Sarah home for a few days between treatments. She has a two year old sister and a newborn brother. I don't know how my sister and her husband do it, but they do and so can you.

First. I wish you and your family strength. I am without many words here. That is terrible. Please let others provide you with assistance and comfort even though you will know that have no idea how you are suffering. Second. I just woke my 14 yr old to force her to work on homework at six am on a snow day. I am pretty angry at her poor grades. Your post gave me pause. I hugged her. You reminded me about how fleeting and precious our children are. Thank you for the reminder. Life is good. Life is challenging. Seek your peace whatever may come. Larry |

I could really use some encouraging words right now, My little girl has lukemia
First of all, what a cutie she is! Even at a such a young age, you can see the spunk in her eyes and smile.
![]() Secondly, I dealt with adult oncology patients but know that a lot of leukemias in children have a very good prognosis. You can find many happy remission stories with children. Third, yes, this is going to be hard. But you have to take one day at a time. And if one day is too much, take one hour at a time. And if that's too much, one minute at a time. And don't look at each minute as a time to "survive", take it as a minute to thoroughly enjoy your daughter, your son, your family. Last, don't forget to take care of yourself. I see a lot of parents giving their all to their kids. I get it. I am a mom too. But as a caregiver, the constant strain, stress, and worry will take its toll. Make sure you and your wife take a break every once in awhile and have fun. With each other. With your son. The way I explain it to caregivers of patients is like the oxygen rule on planes. If you always take care of your child's oxygen and well being first, you will forget yourself and eventually pass out. Then who's left to take care of your child? Put your oxygen on first. Then you know you will be there for a long time to take care of hers. So take the time to nurture yourself. So you can be stronger for her. ![]() Life is strange. Don't know why your precious little one got diagnosed. We will never know. But look, she isn't even a year old and she has already changed the outlook and behavior of some of the people who have read this thread. Her life has already been a blessing. Hugs to you and your family. ![]() Last edited by tweezers74; 02-07-2014 at 09:43 AM.. |

+1 on tweezers post! You have had the strength and tenacity to endure the NICU with a preemie and all that can bring. This is but another, albeit challenging, phase. Try not to focus on statistics but on each positive step forward no matter how small. She is beautiful, she is a fighter and more importantly, she has a family that loves her!

She is a beautiful little girl and looks like a fighter to me. What is her name? You, your daughter and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers Fred.

Very tough situation....but also a very treatable issue in young children....keep strong and focused.
Remember you are not alone, surround yourself with friends and allow them to help when needed. She is a beautiful little girl.... I am a survivor and I was an old outta shape heavy drinker at the time ![]() She surely has a long, loving and productive life ahead of her. Best of wishes. Mike

Fred,
I have posted my sentiments previously in this thread and offer continued well wishes and prayers. My "bump" is to keep this thread active. Your daughter has already changed some of my, and others, behavior and reactions to events going on in our lives in a wonderful, positive way. Tweezers post was spot on. Matt
