NBC Olympic coverage....dear lord.....
Bob Kostass, 3 minutes into NBCs coverage of the opening ceremony, "....issue like terrorism and human rights, we'll talk to president Obama in an interview in just a few minutes."
My 10 year old daughter, "What the hell does any of this have to do with the Olympics?" Exactly kid. Exactly. And with that, she changed the channel to the Food Network.

Honestly, the Obama interview wasn't as bad as it could have been, given the participants.
Now we just get The Today Show hosting the four hour (!) opening ceremonies. Let's just see some sports!

So far the coverage has been terrible.
I want to see the athletes compete not political BS. |

Any time Kostas is involved he gets more air time than all the events combined. Case in point; the Seoul Olympics were the worst coverage in history because they showed Kostas more than they showed sports -- nuff said

Haven't These Olympic Games always been about politics?

Do some thinking.
The first competitions at these Olympic Games started a day before the opening ceremonies. Which is why NBC needs to have Costas fill time before the ceremonies. |

The opening is after the competition starts, really?

It has been that way for awhile - certain events (qualifying?) happen before the formal opening ceremonies.
I missed silly Bob, but I have to say that whoever else is in the booth is rather condescending towards Russia and their theatrical portion. Cold War still alive and well? |

Now that Shaun White pussed out, I am hoping NBC drops some of it's coverage of "skateboard punks on snow" and instead focuses a bit more on the true ultimate alpine sport of skiing.

We watched all 4 hours of the opening ceremony. Well my wife did. I read a book through most of it. It was tedious and about 2 hours too long.

Unlikely, snowboarding is popular with the younger crowd, it's only old stogey folks that are still into skiiing.

Painful. Too many commercials. Too much talking. Too little athletes. Too damn long. And a "pivotal experiment"? WTF NBC!?!?!
I'm done. Ain't going to watch at all. I like that the athletes will win, but I ain't participating in NBCs BS. Sorry.

We record it on the DVR and then speed through the commercials and the Costas blab. Much more enjoyable that way.

I never watch the Olympics. On the other hand, my brother has been to every winter Olympics since 1980.
