Here's mine. I have one tandem one-car width with 12 foot ceilings (perfect for future lift) and one oversized two car. I use the tandem for floor space but could put two cars in it if needed. When I still had the 911 I had the Corvair and the 911 front to back and it fit great.

Second floor is directly above the garage, and the ceiling height of the garage is too low for a lift unfortunately. Here's the floor plan for the second floor:

That's the first floor again ?? Looks similar to the layout of my house, one second floor bedroom is above the tandem one-car garage, which is a side-load setup in my case. I got the 12' ceilings in the garage due to the lot grade, it drops off at the front of the house, so the driveway/garage are dug into it but the house is built at grade level.

Regardless of the ceiling height, having the tandem covered on three sides by inside walls keeps it pretty warm in there.

I had a buddy a long time ago that was single and house shopping. He explained to his realtor exactly what floor plan ranch house he was looking for. He wanted a two car garage where the inside entry door on the back of the garage opened to a breakfast nook area. She finally found exactly what he was looking for. After a few weeks of home ownership, that back wall was removed and he extended the "garage" about 10 feet into the house. It made room for his 4 cars - a Toyota Supra DD, a TVR, a TR6 and an MGB. He did make a small ramp for the 3" or 4" high step at the end of the garage. I believe that step is required by code to prevent full leaking into the living quarters to minimize fire damage.

16 by 24 ft I guess I could fit 4 cars if small sports car sized in a 2x2 placement
and nothing else was in there

but I have band saw drill press washer/dryer
and a work bench on one side +big snap on roller
and cabinets + shelves on the other
two cars nose to tail in the middle
4 motors in there too 3 northstars v8 and a v6 + a 5speed trans
with room to walk around both sides and one end

so three cars and the PU live outside+ two boats

Sometimes a tandem is the only possible solution.

My rowhouse w/ single car garage (private garage is a rarity in my 'hood)

There was an illegal 3rd apartment set up behind the garage when I bought the place...I know what I can do to "legalize it" - turn it into a "secret" workshop with room for 1 more car.

The 3 panel door separates the "daily driver" area from the workshop where the fun car goes. Workshop area is heated and airconditioned too.

I've got one. Of course having three spaces is better than two spaces but swapping cars around to get the rear car out gets old.

Why thank you...

There is still a bathroom there (the doorway next to the car's left rear wheel) which has a shower. This is just in case I have to stuff the mother-in-law down there someday, or if I sell the property to a non-gearhead (who wouldn't appreciate the workshop space) they can turn it back into an income generating apartment.

Since we love pics:
