Can I ask how cheaply (car, entry, parts, etc) this can be done? I would love to do it but don't want to drop anything close to 5-10k

In all honesty, I think this is what you're looking at. I think $5k would be the minimum unless you've got a seat, harnesses, fire suppression system, race suit, helmet, nomex, shoes, etc. already. Our guys had to buy/fab everything. Entry fees were $1100 alone. We spent almost $600 on GAS.

Finding a good used race seat and belts still in date will save you a fortune.

I would say this would be the bare minimum. What our guys did (and it paid off), was went through the truck and rebuilt/replaced a lot of stuff. New radiator, new alternator, all new belts, hoses, etc. New hubs/bearings/rotors/pads. New clutch. Rebuilt the rear end. Gutted the interior and re-wired the truck with redundant circuits for things like the lights. Toggle switches for everything from wipers to lights to interior lights/underhood lights (gotta be able to see at night). Had to install a new windshield. Six new tires/wheels (so we had two spares). Roll bar padding, battery case, window net...it just adds up. Even if you start off with a $1000 vehicle, the kilobucks add up quickly.

Congrats!!!
Back in the early 90's a friend had a S-10, 4.3 V-6 short bed. He had a convertible top (roof cut off) and we did exhaust/cam/K&N/3" lowered etc. that truck would run circles around Mustang GT's and Camaro's!!!

Looks like you ran it without a bed cover and no tailgate.

The rear end lift must have been terrible.

Congrats, from another S-10 owner.

For next year you might want to try some of my aerodynamic enhancements (all very cheap) for extra down-force.

Not at the speeds we were running. ;)

Another team posted some footage where he's chasing us for a couple of laps...
