"Worlds fastest DeLorean" for sale.

Neat car. Looks like it isn't running as good as it should in the TUNED video. Too expensive, considering that it isn't sorted or has been sitting. Nevertheless, I had watched that TUNED video a while ago and was surprised to see it is a local car ...

I would love a DeLorean and having a better power plant definitely would help!

That fastest DeLorean is not a big claim. In stock form they were such slugs they had a real challenge getting to 88 MPH.

I wouldn't mind owning a De Lorean but it's got the whole Marty McFly thing attached to it. Same reason I'm hesitant to own a 308. Everyone associates them with the Hawaiian mustache guy. Both are great looking cars though...

I can vouch for that as I worked on one when they were still 'new' and could not believe my eyes when I opened the deck lid and saw that pathetic V-6. Which I believe was actually Peugeot engine? On top of that an automatic? Good God!!

Volvo used them for @5mins back in the day as an alternative to developing their own V-6 and an immediate need for larger engine because their cars were gaining weight and size. Total POS even in those days

Its really a shame that DeLorean didnt work out. With a better engine, that car could have been great. I'd like one with a 13B.

I believe it's a Renault, but if I'm wrong, someone will probably correct me.

That dash panel with the aircraft gauges is not working as well as it might have, esthetically, in my opinion.

^^^ They were coined the PVR engine for Poogoo, Vulva, Run-no.
All kidding aside, I have a soft spot for them. Only because of the oddity and story. We took one in trade (in 1990??) - approx. 20k miles, clean, for $10K. Regret I didn't take it. They are rare, the Chapman influence, controversy to the demise of it, these could be the 'Tucker' in 40 years for collectors.

edit: for grins, looked up the MSRP 1980, $25,000. So if the ACV trade was $10k in 1990, owners sure took a hit. The used market was weak.

If I remember right; I don't think it was the car's fault. I think it was Mr. Delorean's fault for importing cocaine inside car parts.

An odd fire V-6 to boot - originally a Renault V-8 casting minus two cylinders - a cheapo solution by Renault engineers to derive the fuel economy of a V-6 & they ended up with a crappy engine.
