I Apologize. Leigh Diffy is better.
Costas just went on a rant.
The Olympics, originally, were to end all wars and come together apoliticaly. Carter boycotted in '80 for the Moscow games. USSR reciprocated in '84 in LA. Neither had thoughts of the athletes that were in their "Olympic window." Keep politics out of the Olympics. Bob, STFU. Spring training is coming, I will now trade Costas for Diffy. Any takers from down under? ![]() Matt

Matt - I have a very good friend born in England but now lives here and has dual citizenship. Porsche owner (965) and is a HUGE F1 fan. I mean HUGE.
Hates Varsha! I mean with a passion. Never heard any complaints about the other guys.......just Varsha. I always thought Costas was pretty good but I agree - keep the politics to yourself, please.

^Varsha is f'ing terrible. He talks over the other people in the F1 broadcasts like a know-it-all when he should just give the play-by-play and STFU when the experts are chiming in. I remember one time he named all the drivers in qualifying based on their 3 letter acronym that runs down the left hand side of the screen, what a blowhard.

Geez, I hated the way he made it a point to say "Bada-Chello" and "Koo-BEET-suh". WTF! A know-it-all blowhard who would cut off David Hobbs and hog the mic. |

God forbid an announcer should ever try to pronounce someone's name correctly. Varsha's a decent guy to talk to in person, ever met him? He does know quite a bit about the sport... I like his banter, I like Hobbs and if they could only lose Matchett...
Diffey is an okay guy, also stays current on the topics and has followed the sport for years, but he can be a little annoying to listen to. JR |

I suppose the point was that you shouldn't judge people you've never met. Perhaps you are more perceptive than most people, or maybe I expect too much of this forum.

As far as voice quality Varsha is much more easy on the ears than Diffy's almost yelling shrill.
The content of both of their shows is about the same to me. Last summer Varsha was working at the Monterey Reunion. I zinged him with "nice hair" and he joked "Thanks, takes a lot of work". ![]() |

I despise Bob Costas with a burning passion. When he went on his gun control rant last year, I was done with him. He actually thinks what he does for a living is important and gives him a legitimate platform for his political views. I've got news for him: they are thousands of college kids who can read a teleprompter too and do it without the condescending tripe.
