Was vanity or the driving experience of a Porsche why...

Was vanity or the driving experience of a Porsche the motivation behind the purchase of your car?

I got the 911 because I couldn't find a nice Karmann Ghia at the time.

I heard that it would help me get chicks but it didn't work. So I sold it.

The engineering excellence and the driving experience. Absolutely, didn't care what others thought about it.

First car was a '67 bug. Always wanted a 911. Finally ended up getting one (ill-fated '87, then a great '79). Mildly embarrasses about the "vanity" part of it. I just wanted the air-cooled, rear-engined visceral experience.

Buying my first Porsche was for both reasons, I guess. I definitely wanted the performance, but the vanity was not hurt!

Cars are simply another fashion accessory.

Great picture, porwolf.

Neither. My pecker is adequate, my Bug is exciting enough to drive, and I'm ugly enough that a mere automobile wouldn't improve the look very much.

A working air conditioner, and a '+150,000 mile used Honda Accord' price are what got me into my NARP. So far, it's been a sound purchase. Best daily driver I've ever owned.

I bought my first one because it was cheap and I was poor.

I lusted after 911s since I was a kid. As soon as we got all our schooling out of the way and got 'real' jobs, I bought an 82 SC......and found this website called Pelican Parts. That was almost a decade ago!

Driving experience - and whatever heritage/history the car brings brings with it.

I dislike any attention the car gets, I'd rather be invisible while driving it.

I bought both of them because I have always wanted them.

Absolutely hated the vanity aspect, and hated feeling like a dbag whenever someone asked me what I drove.

I never cared at all about the vanity aspect.

I bought a Porsche because it was a fun car and not just transportation. I drove to high school in a 1960 VW bug with a mismatched hood. All the cool kids had muscle cars but I did not really care. Heck one kid in my class had a Superbird with the crazy wing and long nose. That thing if it still exists is worth a fortune. My old bug was the slowest car on campus.

One of my wife's friends asked her if I bought a Porsche as a mid-life crisis thing. She said "I hope not he was 19 when he bought his first Porsche."

I grew up around sports cars ,Watkins Glenn and hill climbs. When I bought my first new Porsche in 1975 most people didn't know or care what it was. I got the car for what it was made to do and drove it like I stole it.

Bought it because I love to drive and Porsche is where its at for that experience.
At least with the old ones. Not sure about the new ones.
I'd rather not be seen in it and have been getting flack from people since day one.

I thought a VW Beetle with a little more power would be fun to drive, a bonus is that the roof comes off.
