Know what it is?

futuresoptions 02-28-2014 01:47 PM

A dude taking a leak into a 5gal bucket? :D Seriously, it looks kind of Porsche 917 / Ford GT-ish

Dana Norris 02-28-2014 01:54 PM

I believe that is a Porsche 904.

mreid 02-28-2014 01:58 PM

I believe we have a winner!

lindbhr 02-28-2014 02:01 PM

Wow! Very cool. Can't wait to hear more.....

BK911 02-28-2014 02:58 PM

Oh wow...

GWN7 02-28-2014 03:09 PM

Beck?

weseeeee 02-28-2014 03:25 PM

You got my attention!

Tobra 02-28-2014 03:55 PM

you bastard

Schumi 02-28-2014 03:58 PM

So you bought the molds? Very cool.

Flieger 02-28-2014 04:48 PM

So what variant of 904 rep is it?

mreid 02-28-2014 04:49 PM

No molds, just mold contents. Looks something like this:

It's a Beck. I think the one above is a real one though.

GWN7 02-28-2014 05:25 PM

I looked at them a couple years ago. If I remember correctly they come complete except for motor and trans? What are your plans for a powertrain?

mreid 02-28-2014 05:41 PM

This 993 3.6 that was originally going in my 84:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393641668.jpg

mreid 02-28-2014 05:45 PM

Here is a Beck 904 picture gallery:

Wow, that thing will MOVE!

Heel n Toe 02-28-2014 07:25 PM

If any of us can make it to San Antonio between now and when you get started on it, would you be willing to spin it 45 degrees and let us sit under it in a chair and make motor noises while looking out the front? Maybe if we bring a steering wheel, too... uh... you get the picture.

andyjboy 03-15-2014 08:40 AM

Good luck with your build - here's my M&W 904 :

Andy, I poured over your build thread. Magnificent!

Your attention to detail, even on the slightest specifics, has yielded a fantastic vehicle. Outstanding job...please don't ever park yours next to mine!

Is the thread in PP forums? I searched but can't find.

andyjboy 03-15-2014 09:17 AM

No Bob I didn't post the build process on Pelican but you can read it on the Early 911S Registry here:

My 904 replica build thread ...

- sorry for the hijack Mark.

mreid 06-13-2014 11:14 PM

No worries, Andy. Happy to have your link here for reference.

Chassis was finished and bonded to the body while the body is still in the mold. This provides the best fit and finish. Things should start to move faster from this point forward.

No kidding.

MRied, please post as much as you feel. I enjoy living vicariously through you!

Andy, I guess the Registry turns off the photos after 5 or six pages:D

From what I saw and read, my goodness....I was rebuilding an Italian 3 point tractor spreader today, was having some issues. Perhaps you can help me source some parts:p

The best to both of you.

More work on the body while it is still in the mold. This ensures everything stays perfectly aligned. Work is being done on the firewall. You can see the stainless chassis and then above that part of the mold reinforcements:

Here is the undercarriage with wheel liners ready for installation:

Meanwhile, the tail is being fitted and prepared for paint:

I also dropped the 915 off at Jones Autowerks to be rebuilt, fitted with a Guard LSD, and yo have the ring gear flipped. More to come!

mreid 07-03-2014 06:49 PM

With the main body bonded to the chassis and the undercarriage all installed, the body slowly emerges from the mold:

Until it's on the dolly and heading for the body shop.

When you get ready to do your road testing, I live about 2hrs south of you! :D

skipdup 07-03-2014 07:12 PM

Please sir, might I get an invite over when it gets to San Antonio??? :)

skipdup 07-03-2014 07:15 PM

Mark- You may know this... But Bob used to fix 904s back in the day at the factory when privateers would bring them back after being wrecked. Later, he owned an original as well.

mreid 07-03-2014 07:19 PM

Thanks, Skip. I had a long conversation with him last week when I dropped off the 915. He is very excited to see this car come together.

All are welcome!

Steve Carlton 07-03-2014 08:00 PM

Be sure to put great tires on it... burp.

mreid 07-11-2014 06:26 PM

Body work continues, but nothing of substance to see. They will start fitting the doors, hood and trunk lid next week.

Ultimate dream car, totally.

So what color? I would want something besides silver, though that does look great on it. Maybe aubergine, or gulf livery. How about a Pink Pig 904. or that hippie psychedelic one they had on the 917, you know the one I mean.

I really like your style of trolling. Hope to see more!!!

mreid 07-12-2014 09:46 AM

It should look like this, doc:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1405187125.jpg

I believe that is albert blue and that is the look I'm trying to achieve.

onewhippedpuppy 07-13-2014 04:59 AM

Love the blue. It's not a cliche Porsche color and looks great on the car.

Not a bad angle on the car.
