My next project is a...
Here are some pics, but it won't be here until mid-summer:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psiyrxn4av.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps3melwmpi.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pspwuuiztc.jpg Know what it is? |
A dude taking a leak into a 5gal bucket? :D Seriously, it looks kind of Porsche 917 / Ford GT-ish
|
I believe that is a Porsche 904.
|
I believe we have a winner!
|
Wow! Very cool. Can't wait to hear more.....

Oh wow...

Beck?
|
You got my attention!
|
you bastard
|
So you bought the molds? Very cool.
|
So what variant of 904 rep is it?
|
No molds, just mold contents. Looks something like this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393638579.jpg It's a Beck. I think the one above is a real one though. |
I looked at them a couple years ago. If I remember correctly they come complete except for motor and trans? What are your plans for a powertrain?
|
This 993 3.6 that was originally going in my 84:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393641668.jpg

If any of us can make it to San Antonio between now and when you get started on it, would you be willing to spin it 45 degrees and let us sit under it in a chair and make motor noises while looking out the front? Maybe if we bring a steering wheel, too... uh... you get the picture.
|
Good luck with your build - here's my M&W 904 :

Andy, I poured over your build thread. Magnificent!
Your attention to detail, even on the slightest specifics, has yielded a fantastic vehicle. Outstanding job...please don't ever park yours next to mine! |

No Bob I didn't post the build process on Pelican but you can read it on the Early 911S Registry here:
My 904 replica build thread ... - sorry for the hijack Mark. |
No worries, Andy. Happy to have your link here for reference.
Chassis was finished and bonded to the body while the body is still in the mold. This provides the best fit and finish. Things should start to move faster from this point forward. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402729875.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402730021.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402730047.jpg |
That is just awesome, please keep us posted.

MRied, please post as much as you feel. I enjoy living vicariously through you! Andy, I guess the Registry turns off the photos after 5 or six pages:D From what I saw and read, my goodness....I was rebuilding an Italian 3 point tractor spreader today, was having some issues. Perhaps you can help me source some parts:p The best to both of you. |

More work on the body while it is still in the mold. This ensures everything stays perfectly aligned. Work is being done on the firewall. You can see the stainless chassis and then above that part of the mold reinforcements:

More to come! |
With the main body bonded to the chassis and the undercarriage all installed, the body slowly emerges from the mold:

When you get ready to do your road testing, I live about 2hrs south of you! :D
|
Please sir, might I get an invite over when it gets to San Antonio??? :)
|
Mark- You may know this... But Bob used to fix 904s back in the day at the factory when privateers would bring them back after being wrecked. Later, he owned an original as well.

Thanks, Skip. I had a long conversation with him last week when I dropped off the 915. He is very excited to see this car come together.
All are welcome! |
Be sure to put great tires on it... burp.
|
Body work continues, but nothing of substance to see. They will start fitting the doors, hood and trunk lid next week.

Ultimate dream car, totally.
So what color? I would want something besides silver, though that does look great on it. Maybe aubergine, or gulf livery. How about a Pink Pig 904. or that hippie psychedelic one they had on the 917, you know the one I mean. |

It should look like this, doc:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1405187125.jpg I believe that is albert blue and that is the look I'm trying to achieve. |
Love the blue. It's not a cliche Porsche color and looks great on the car.
