The pilot "if it aint Boeing I aint going" saying is due to the differences in design philosophy of Airbus and Boeing. Boeing puts their faith in the pilot and therefor does not limit his interaction with the control of the aircraft, Airbus puts their faith in the computers. An airbus will actually limit a pilots ability to control an aircraft to remain within the aircrafts design parameters. So if a pilot on a Boeing has an issue (perhaps air to air collision imminent) he could stand the thing on the wing tip to avoid it, the Airbus would limit the bank angle to remain within the normal operational envelope to avoid stressing the airframe.
Pilot's want Boeing because they are in control. To the guy in the back, the safety records are highly comparable and as such, who really cares....

That is a very good point, they would not knock down a jet over a poplated center.

My ship has pulled into Diego Garcia. We were allowed to walk on the base to buy stuff at the store. Never knew or heard it was some top secret base similar to area 51.

I would think, at least for when he may have been negotiating, he would want to be where no one else was. No SAM's, no visual id's. Then after an hour or two, no deal, Allah Ahkbar, hello salt water.

I'm thinking the pilot wanted Malaysian political opposition leaders released from oppressive prison.
Else, he'd fly Chinese civilians into a US air base. No deal. US Navy Air intercepted over the ocean and made it go 'poof'. Whatever it is, nobody wants to talk about it. |

The Navy shot it down, eh? That's cause one of them phoney passport Iranians had a suitcase nuke aboard the plane. He wanted to go to NYC, but the pilot told him to eff off....or just turned left rather than right....a turn to the left is always a bad idea. The obamanation is safe till the next election.

OH come on.
Why would we blow it up out in the middle of nowhere just where it would run out of fuel.

What about the black/orange boxes? Has their technology been upgraded recently? Seems like they work like 40 yeras ago: Weak signals and only 30 day battery life time. Is that the latest stand of technology?

There really is some wild speculation in this thread. The fact is that nothing, other than speculation, has emerged pointing to a motive on behalf of the pilot(s) to crash this flight. There is nothing to suggest that the Malaysian govt and its agencies is anything other than mystified and arguably incompetent. The facts seem to suggest the plane went dark, radically altered course and descended, then flew on into the most remote corner of the planet and crashed. Heard only by omnipresent US submarines.
The pilots are being trashed- Ive spoken to a couple who work on 777s, and while they don't completely discount human intervention, the more plausible explanation is a cargo or cockpit fire and depressurization. But both a mystified by the lack of a distress call. I keep thinking of that 727(?) over Greece or Cyprus that flew on, two F16s flying beside it, with every one on board dead, until it just aungered in. In this case, its happened in a corner of the world where it just may never be found. |

G'day!
|
Can someone again please tell me how the pilot could kill all aboard except himself by simply climbing to an altitude of X feet?
Is it even possible? If not - how could he kill off everyone else just by flying the plane (meaning not via gun, etc.) Thanks!

Pilots have an independent O2 supply that last longer than the O2 generators in the pax compartment - plus, the pilots can disable the O2 deployment in the pax compartment. So, pilot goes onto O2, disables pax O2, climbs until the cabin outflow valves rupture, cabin depressurizes, people die within seconds/minutes, pilot then descends to a safe altitude and flies along his merry way.
