Dad kills Teen Intruder in Daughters Bedroom

This is a sad ending to a series of bad choices by all involved parties. I know that I have enjoyed the company of girlfriends in the parents home and while it made for nervous fun I did not count the possibility of being killed for doing so.

As a father with two daughters, I am not certain what I would do in a similar circumstance. Probably wouldn't kill the kid but he may wish that I had.

Dad accused of killing teen found in daughter's room - Houston Chronicle

A Harris County grand jury will decide what, if any, charges will be filed against a Spring father accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy he found in his teenage daughter's bedroom Thursday morning.

Few details were forthcoming about the family that recently moved into a modest, single-story brick home in the 22000 block of Bridgestone Ridge.

Harris County investigators said the suspect's 16-year-old daughter let the boy into the house. Her father told investigators he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom about 2:30 a.m. and went to investigate.

My first girlfriend's Dad literally opened her bedroom door as I was sneaking out, I stepped behind the door, they exchanged a few words about "noises", then he closed the door.

whats going to make or break the case is did he already have a gun in his hand or did he have to go look for one. if he had to go look for one that might be considered premeditaded murder.

I dated the daugther of a army colonel in high school... I would pick her up and drop her off at their residence on base... when I dropped her off I would walk her to the front door and we would kiss/say good night for about five minutes.
Kinda surprised I'm still alive.

That is a sad story. It reminds me of the story of the father who shot his own son thinking he was a prowler.

From what's been released about the incident, it seems the only person truly guilty of any crime is the daughter. If you want to be a real harda55, that lie is an intentional act as well as proximate cause of the boys death. .... That's man1 all day long.
I suspect there will be no criminal trial, but likely a god awful civil trial where the lawyers are the only winners

The daughters lie will make it hard to get a man1 conviction. The father thinks his daughter was being attacked by an unknown person who is in his house. Attacker makes a sudden movement.....

F'ng idiots and their guns.

They all think that they are John Wayne but at the end, just a bunch of retards with a few extra dollars and zero common sense.

BTW, I own guns but I don't run to my gun every time that I hear a noise in my house...I have 2 dogs, a daughter, a wife, and plenty of wild life around the area...

A different news source reported that the younger brother went in the bedroom and saw feet sticking out from under the bed and then alerted the father. I cannot verify this as true but if that were the case then I would not fault the father for having the gun. Each account says that a struggle occurred and the daughter initially denied knowing the teen. Your opinion that it was a effing idiot with a gun seems hair triggered.

The actions of all involved that nite contributed to the teens death.

He found the 17-year-old in the bedroom, and there was an altercation before the boy was shot once.

If you were sneaking into a parent's house and you were caught, would you really want to start or be involved in an altercation?

One would think you (as well as the girl) would explain what is going on the moment the dad opened that door.

If you heard funny noises at 2:30 am, had your son tell you that there was someone in your daughter's room, then were attacked....you'd be a fool not to have your gun.

Sad story, sounds like the daughter could have stopped it but didn't.

That is why you don't sneak into other folks homes at 2:30 AM...If I heard someone in my house at that time...I would certainly bring a gun...and if it were a stranger and they made any sudden, threatening movement, it would be difficult not to shoot. If they get past me, who protects my family? Sad circumstances and lots of poor judgment.

The dad made a split second descision. Protect his daughter or let a stranger that is in her bedroom possibly hurt his daughter and maybe his entire family. If the daughter was saying I don't know the guy and he made a move when he was told "don't move" I would have shot him as well.

Let me guess: no one here ever snuck into their girlfriends' rooms when invited? The issue here could be the girl's denial of knowing the kid. That could've been the catalyst to the altercation. Tragic. Can't imagine starting a fight when busted by pops though. Usually, a "Get the hell out of here!" would be sufficient. But killing the kid? Sheesh...

Of course, this changes when you think the kid is a stranger and starts an altercation. Not good.

The BIG mistake the kid made was when the dad said DON'T MOVE he moved. Nothing but his lips should move. He should be saying she knows me she invited me in.

An no I never snuck into any house at any age. I lived on a lot of Air Force bases. ALL the dads would shoot to kill, and they were trained to shoot to kill.
