I just finished up the deal. Everything went ok. I started freaking when he was 30 minutes late and didn't answer his phone. Then, I realized you can't always answer calls when riding.

Interesting tid-bit. The kid is from Kuwait. So I knew he was good for the money. Oil money!

Also thanks to all the guys (and gals?) who gave positive thoughts on the out come! It was fun reading the worst case scenario's. And for those who asked it is a motorcycle.

I know! The kid called a cab to give him a ride to the bank, so I knew he was serious. But it is definitely two different things.

Happy it worked out for you.

Don't need cheering up.

Just trying to impart some wisdom learned (painfully at times) during my time on this earth.

Like don't let Billy ride your dirtbike cause he'll hit a kid in the hood breaking said kids leg making the kids parents angry enough to get an ambulance chaser who sues Billys parents, your mom and stepdad, your father who lives in another town and does not even know you have a dirtbike, your grandmother in Germany because she gave you some cash that you used to buy said dirtbike and it will drag on for 5 years with nothing to show but a lot of aggravation and exorbitant defense attorney fees. It only ends when your lawyer who is smarter than the ambulance chaser figures out that the kids parents did not keep the hedges in front of their house trimmed to proper height as per town ordinance and countersues them for negligence arguing the accident was caused by them because if they had trimmed their hedges to proper height then Billy would have seen the kid and the kid would have seen Billy and the whole thing would have never happened.

Purely hypothetical example of how you are responsible for the stuff you own and let others use.

In the future, FYI, there is no such thing as an ATM limit. Banks have a daily limit that can be raised to anything you want (up to cash on hand in the ATM, that is)

I missed the bank closing one time and needed a large amount right away for school housing so I called to find out if they could raise the limit and they said no problem, but they also said they had to ask me if I was under distress or being forced to do it...thought that was pretty funny but understandable.

Damn lucky. Now don't accept a partial ever again (virtual dope slap!).

Glad it worked out for you, you got very lucky.

I believe the original transaction occured on a Sunday. Doubt he could contact anyone at the bank.

Depends on the bank, but most debit cards have a 24hr support line. When I bought my bug I called USAA and told them I needed my limit increased. No problem, done in 10mins easily on a Sunday

Yeah when we moved to TX we had to meet the moving truck on that Sunday or we would have had to wait till after the Christmas New Years break to get our stuff.

We had a blowout on Saturday in Texarkana which meant we missed getting to the bank in time for the needed cash.

Called the number on the debit card and they raised the limit. Not as high as we needed but at least 3x's the normal limit for a Citibank ATM.

My bank will only let me withdraw $2500 per branch, per day. Not from the ATM, but inside the bank.

One time when I bought a bike I had to go to a few branches to get enough cash.

Sort of dumb, but whatever.

If this is true, I would cause a scene in the bank. I suppose I can understand the ATM limit but to limit funds IN the bank? Do you mean "cash" or they wouldn't, say, give you a cashiers check?

I don't know what kind of bank you use but I have never heard of ANY kind of limit on cleared balances from a FDIC insured bank, specifically face to face transactions.
