I give her prop's for pushing the 'Village Idiot' to the point where he became VERY sloppy on the road. Bottom line...he LOST control of the vehicle he was driving. Like a woman, his emotions took control of him, and was not in charge of his emotions.
Maybe he didn't know his manhood wasn't defined by the size of his truck? "woman and children can afford to be sloppy...men cannot afford to be sloppy"~Godfather. |

I remember in one of the many traffic schools I attended in my younger days....we were educated about the 3 main personalities of a driver. One was the parent....one was the child....and one was the adult. Looking at it this way really put everything in perspective for me in analyzing why drivers do the things they do....and why humans in general do (and say) the things they do. I admit I am guilty of not being the adult at times.....but I try as hard as I can to be the adult in situations which call for it. Certainly as a driver we should all gravitate to this personality type. In the video we do not see the adult personality in either driver - hence they are both guilty of having the wrong approach to that given scenario. |

The astronauts framed their shots without being able to see their framing. I do it while karting with hand held at times steering one handed at multple g's and get decent framing. On a side note - the truck driver that spun already caught her attention for being a A-hole, which is why her camera came out. I really can't fault her for anything here. I personally love to see a short sighted A-hole coming in the mirrors, and try to time things so they jump lanes exactly as some other car stops to make to a turn. I don't particulary care about speed - its the way they cut off other drivers and fail to use blinkers. Its intensely gravitating to guide them into a poor spot providing I can do it without impeding traffic. Their shorted sighted predictability makes it really easy. The annoying situation is trying to pass a police car that is 1-2 under the limit. @Nynor, interesting, we both 944's, and have the exact same problem with tailgating moron pick up trucks. Especially annoying at night on deserted roads where they come up with their brights on, follow close, but NEVER make use of the freakin' passing zones! I've had to come to a full stop and just wait in a marked passing zone to get one of these morons to go around. |

Everybody's on her case cuz she's not 38-24-36 and blond with legs up to her neck. She simply recorded the stupid redneck during his shining moment. Anybody would have reacted the same way to an idiot like that. |

Based on the judgmental legalists, everyone who fiddles with the radio is guilty. In fact, if you have to shift gears you are paying attention to the RPMs and have one hand off the wheel so that is reckless too! That butthead in the truck was taunting her when he sped up and slowed down while along side. I suspect he ran so that he could clear out the PBR cans before the cops arrived. I hope they throw the book at him. |

On most surface streets around here, if it's posted 45 and you're doing 50 in the left lane, you're a rolling chicane. Three miles is PLENTY of time to move over and let someone pass.... |

A loudmouth is in a restaurant and insulting you. You should leave the restaurant and go eat someplace else because he may start a fight. If you don't then you are 30 or 40% responsible for starting the fight. Really? |

If he tried that crap on a California freeway, he'd have caught a bullet. TOTALLY his responsibility and FAULT. I'm laughing right along with the chick. Go girl! |

Failing/ignoring that...an argument could be made to disengage and thus defuse the situation. However I can also understand that some humans would look at that ONLY as surrendering...and thus would not be open to those options. Not trying to tell you what you (or they should do) - just providing analysis. Life is sometimes all about choosing your battles. Not pissing contests. |

The last time I called 911, I went through 4 districts and many many miles out of my way before finally getting a town that would respond. In both real and hypothetical cases, getting things on record is a good idea IMO. |

I was responding to Joe's comment about choosing to leave a restaurant because of another patron's misbehavior. Do you video the patron.....leave the restaurant....or speak to the manager. See my point now? |

If she is guilty of anything, it may be not fully understanding how much of an idiot the guy in the truck was but to say that she is partially at fault for his stupidity is a steaming pile of manure. Addendum: I wouldn't video the unruly patron in the restaurant but I might decide to use force to defend myself. |

She was being that idiot out there that we've all run into who park themselves righteously in a left lane and then REFUSE to move over when given the chance to do so. One of the first things my father taught me was, if someone is coming up behind you, and you're blocking him, move over as soon as possible. It's the polite thing to do, She didn't, and had no intention of doing so. So let me give you a scenario. Four lane highway, four cars side by side driving exactly the speed limit. On puropse. They eventually cause a considerable backup behind them. But, Hey! They're all going the speed limit! Right? No need to be polite and NOT block other drivers because, god damn it, they're all law abiding by the law. If any of you people tell me that you'd happily sit in the traffic jam created by them, then you either have the patience of a saint, you're 80+ years old, or you're lying. My Father In Law does this **** all the time when I drive with him and he LOVES to mess with all of those other "maniacs" on the road with him who dare (gasp) to actually attempt to pull into the lane in front of him ("they weren't planning miles ahead'), pass him, or get closer than ten car lengths. To him, every other driver is an idiot and he feels it's his job to teach them a lesson of some sort. As I said, it drives me nuts. Flat out , HE (the truck driver) was an ass (we've all run into his type), but the lady should NOT have tried to play mind games with him. She was absolutely partially to blame for this incident. Absolutely. By the way, I have cops tell me that they will pull someone over for IMPEDING the flow of traffic, even IF they're going the speed limit themselves. It is against the law to impede traffic in California, and I'm sure, most other states. As they have told me "It is not YOUR job to police traffic. It is OURS. If you are holding up traffic in a passing lane, you can be cited." Amen to that. They were BOTH idiots, in my opinion. |
450: you are making undocumented assumptions about if she was trying to police traffic and impeding the flow of traffic (doing 50 in a 45 is a reasonable thing). This wasn't the autobahn and the weather dictated was would be a reasonable speed.
The guy seemed to relish being filmed and as such, slowed down to be sure to get recorded giving the salute. IMO he is solely responsible for the accident and I am equally joyous for his arrest and being shown to be an idiot. I hope his insurance company drops him. |
I agree 100% with you that he was a Class A douche bag, however, I think it's pretty obvious from the video - one I've watched a few times - that she had no intention of moving over for him, no doubt because he began by tailgating her, which it seems so many young truck drivers love to do.
This long row of trucks blocking her that she talks about is bull. Yes, there were a few trucks, but there were at least two periods during the video when she could've easily moved over. She didn't. She never intended to. And yes, I am making assumptions, but I've been around plenty of people in my 50 years of life to call bull**** when I see it. Again, just in case I'm not being clear on this: he's an idiot who got what he had coming to him. However, her antics greatly contributed to the final outcome. Her righteousness helped trigger his road rage that eventually caused him to crash his truck. |
