Turbo, or S2?

One fine looking car, and an excellent first car!

Hopefully they look past the Porsche badge to the fact that he will lose drag races to his Accord driving friends.

I'm going to be the odd man out here, but I think kids should a) have to buy their own first car with their own blood, sweat and tears, and b) it should be a beater. Parents who buy their kids expensive first cars are incubating douchebags/princesses.

I figured guys on a Porsche forum would know better. It's hard to spend over $10k on a 944, which is about the same as a beater Civic.

Funny that people gave me a hard time (or a thumbs up) when I drove my $4000 944... and ignored me when I was driving my $15,000 Elantra.

That is a pretty bada$$ car... I will presume the kid earned it.

It appears to be a 951 or S2 so I would think not by much!

An Accord V-6 sedan has 278 HP and does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, which would fairly easily beat an S2 or 951. The Accord also would probably be looked upon as a prudent choice as a first car and wouldn't solicit many "spoiled" comments, despite the fact that it is $30k+. People are stupid when it comes to cars.

so I guess YOU are the douchebag.

a) He never said his son did not buy that 944 or maybe he and G50 had an arrangement for him to get that car (good grades and such)

b) last time a searched CL I could buy a 944 for $1500

widebody911 I know you have been a member here a long time but to call this kid a douchebag is showing your true colors. (I realize you didn't call him personally a DB but you certainly implied it)

Well, it took less than one page to turn a proud dad post into a spoiled child post, and all over what was probably an $8k car. Well done PPOT, well done.

Nice choice! Love the 993 wheels and the 968 hatch. All you need to do is add the 968 door handles and mirrors.

Great first car to get his teeth into!

At 16 I would have killed (or maybe even got good grades) for a car like that....

I did have a VW Thing for a first car. Not too many people can say that....

He does look pretty darned happy though! Nice, G50!
