Probably don't want to turn into one of those bands touring with 1-2 original members (Doobies, Creedence, etc) but I'm sure there's some 14 y.o. kid in the Outback who can play Malcom's parts note for note (heck, there's probably 5 or 6 of them out there).
Without John Forgety, Creedence is just a name....

I have a DVD of one of Mr. Forgety's performances...

He wrote the songs, sings and plays lead guitar... pretty much a John Forgety concert IS a Creedence concert.

Just to be clear, I am huge AC/DC fan... my buddy came over to watch me work on my car and I had the Pandora AC/DC channel playing.

I guess some of you forget or are too young to remember that Rock N Roll was all about rebellion and fighting against the system... now it is just about making money.

But I digress... sad to see another great falling ill... but death and disease come knocking at everyones door eventually.

There is a reason that they call it the MUSIC BUSINESS...it has always been about making money. However there are short periods of time when creativity bursts forth and the art shines through. The 1910 period for Jazz, The 50's for Rock and Roll and the 60's for Rock with a message...Then you might say Hip Hop? However sooner than later the stultification sets in as a formula is derived.

One should listen to Joni Mitchell talking about the death of Jimi Hendrix on U Tube. She talks about an artists need to change up and grow or fade away.. In other words they may still be playing but like the Beach Boys and the New Beach Boys aka Rolling Stones they live on their past glories. As one has said long ago the Stones hit the wall in 69 a Altamont, since then they have ceased to be artists and have become entertainers...even Richards has said that "Altamont was the end of the dream."

So take out that moldy old platter, que it up on the Turn Table and rock away.

Past glories, OK. They really haven't had a good record since probably Voodoo Lounge.

Comparing them to the (expletive) Beach Boys? Cmon, Tabs. I know you're still a Stones fan. Give them the credit that they deserve.....This band is still as cool as the other side of the pillow:

Rag time was a precursor, but the innovation came fast a furious with Duke and others starting in the late 20's, then on to Miles and Trane and many others into the 50's. It wasn't until rock pushed it out as "pop" in the 50's that it became more esoteric and often unapproachable.

I read somewhere that he has already made some progress in recovery. To bad about his health for sure, but I have to say they were no longer on my list of gotta buy albums....Pre back in black is pure gold for sure...(Not a Brian Johnson hater...have seen him in concert with AC DC twice now, just liked the early writing better)
My favorite would be a toss up between "Ride On" and their cover of "Baby Please Don't Go"

I'll never get over how small that band is. Angus makes an SG look like a 335..
