Bought a house in Florida

Well we have a contract on one anyway. Its in Punta Gorda. We close the end of the month.

We currently are renting down here, we have the condo till the end of July, so this will give us a place to stay while the house is getting painted and some other minor stuff done. The paint is fine, but the wife does not like the colors.

The airport will be about 4 miles from the house and I already have my plane in a hangar there.

And I like to golf and the house is just off the 17th tee.

Its a pain to move, but last winter was just to long, we initially thought about just buying a condo down here and stay for the winter, but decided to just go ahead and buy a house and live down here full time.

Now I have to buy a boat.

Cool, enjoy. I'm from and have spent a bunch of time in the Clearwater/St Pete/Tampa area. I love the Gulf coast. Most of m family is on the Atlantic coast now, but the Gulf coast will always be home to me.

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but no ocean in Destin.

We are flying commercial to Chicago to take care of our grandson for a week while his parents take a little vacation. We will then rent a car back to Missouri to rent a U haul and haul what we can. We gave most of our furniture and stuff away before we left. We will just buy new once we get settled in. I was hoping to downsize some, but we ended up buying more. At least it's all on one level.

I spent much of a January in Fort Walton Beach for work and ended up going shopping for warmer clothes. It can get chilly in FL occasionally.

I brought five snow shovels when we moved to Texas. Not sure why, but our lawn guy eagerly took them and now I see them using them to shovel mulch. Better than snow!

Ha - I used two different sized ones just today - for Pine Bark mulch. They work great!

Welcome to the Sunshine State Dmcommins!

If you like the ocean though - you're on the wrong coast!

Small world. My father just retired to PG. Great little town. He's not too far from the airport as well...and is a huge airplane nut (ex-USAF). I should give you his info. He's big into the local R/C aircraft scene if you have any interest.

Lived in Clearwater for 20 years. Loved it. I remember when Charlie hit Punta and it was not pretty. Moved to PA because the family was getting on in age. I will move back again some day. I miss fishing in the Gulf of Mexico ocean.

We're looking at houses in Estero at the moment. New job starts mid-July in Naples. SWFL is definitely a conservatives paradise.

One of the best areas of florida, imo. A bit hot and muggy, but we have the same in Indiana. I just saw a show on a fantastic muscle car museam in Punta Gordo that is a must see far any car guy. Its in a old Wal Mart store. Good luck down there.

Went to lunch at Sebring today. The track is across the street from the airport. I had a great cheeseburger, fries, and drink for $8.50. A guy there said they have something like 200 track events a year. Its about a 20 min flight, nice place.
