Remington shotgun question

Probably should have asked this before I'm sitting in a turkey blind.

Put a magazine plug into remmy 11-87. pulled plug out of a 870.

Now it only accepts one shell. What did I miss ?

If you can, do a search for remington 1100/11-87 owners manual pdf file. On page 14-15 of the manual it gives a disassembly procedure for removing the plug. It's a little too long to post here.

Haha. Well played.
I thought the 1100, 11/87, 870 all used the same green plug? My 11/87 uses 3" shells. Maybe the 3" gun is diff. Dunno.

they are the same plug. it won't cycle so my thinking is that you put it together wrong. maybe the O ring seal ring ( metal) is backwards.

No it cycles. I just can't get the second shell in the mag tube.

All I did was take off end cap, did that plunge and twist move on the lock plug, pull it off and insert the plug into the spring. Reverse for reinstall.

A pencil cut to length will suffice as a plug. Check your ammo.

Is the follower on the mag tube moving freely? Meaning you can not load a shell into the mag tube at all?

Aside from what David mentioned, what size shells are you shooting? I would also compare the length of the mag tube on the 187 and the 870.

My money is on the follower hanging up somewhere or the mag plug is catching inside the tube. here are views of both guns. The 1187 does not show a game plug. Measure the two tubes Neil may be right on this.

Wait. That 11 87 schematic doesn't even show a plug. I'm stumped. Follower is not binding.
