Opinions Wanted

Trying to decide on which tail to use for my car.

I have a Carrera base with OEM rubber in immaculate shape not currently on the car.

I also have a 964 lid with motor and all controls for the wing.

Painting and mounting the standard Carrera tail will be cake.

964 lid will require modding the hinges, not a big deal, but will also force me to run without AC or relocate the the condenser.

I like the cleaner 964 look but I also like the classic Carrera look.

Car will be getting Yellowbird bumpers and is currently shod with Cup 1's.

I need to stop flip flopping and just get it done.

I'm all about the classic look, and the carrera tail is very clean compared to the turbo.

964 - 2 looks for the same car, not quite as functional as a carrera tail, but do you really need that little bit extra, more work to mount including the AC issue, not automatic when adapted so you'll have to remember to put it up and down unless you go with a relay that does it any time the car is running
Carrera - easy to mount, no issues with the AC, slightly more functional, only one 'look' for the car, but that look is classic.

The early whale tails were cool too, but probably best on a widebodied car, and not part of your poll.

Not sure what car you have. I put a 964 lid on my 73 targa with Carrera 3.2 engine, and it helped my oil temps by 10 - 15 deg. and I kinda like the look too...
My butt aero analysis also says the rear is more planted at speed with the spoiler deployed...>>

You didn't have an option for neither .

When I purchased my tailless Carrera, one of the first things I did was purchase another rear deck lid and a new tail (pricey), since the iconic tail was imbeded in my mental picture of what a 911 was. Never did install either and sold 'em after a couple of years as the "clean" look grew on me. I rarely have my car above 100mph...so I don't need one. Tracking one is a 'nuther matter indeed...YMMV.

Agreed on neither. That's what you get for not making this a poll.

Quack or nothin' as you have a narrow-bodied car.

I chose classic since your using yellow bird bumpers.
964 on an early car looks cool though.

I have never cared for tails on 911's. My 997 has one, but thankfully it only pops up when I am breaking the law, and is down when I exit the car.

This to me just works... So if you install a 964 tail then you get the best of both words. The Ruff bumpers really are SICK IMO.

EDIT: If you decide you don't want the 964 tail I'd be interested but shipping to Aus would be "interesting" to say the least.

I like the big tail look, but this isn't a permanent part of your car, so you can always swap.

I had an aftermarket RS America wing, and it looked great in body color, Plus it bolted in through the grill opening. Big wings are bad ass. 964 wings are understated.

Wing, no wing, you put it on your car, and in a month you start thinking that it is the best looking, even is you weren't initially sure. It's an old Jedi mind trick that your brain will play with you. If it makes it easier to decide, you just want your car ''finished''.

For now.

Peter,

Why'd you have to post that pic?

Now I'm thinking I need a color change to.

You are not helping narrow down options.

Maybe I'll leave it up to fate.

Post both pieces in the classifieds and keep the one that does not sell first.

Thanks for the opinions.

I apologies for muddying the waters.

I like your color but as a suggestion you could Wrap your car for not a lot for money.
