The DSG GTI I drove was nearly new (2 yrs old, 30k or so on it). Can't speak to it's durability/maintenance.

VW tdi dsg service interval is 40k miles. Average cost is 400-700 bucks. I can make more than minimum wage for my manual shifting effort!
