Feats of Ingenuity. Got any favorites?

Some people refer to this as "******* engineering" but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings in the politically correct world we live in. Regardless - there are plenty of humerous examples out there of things that some of us may or may not have done at one point or another in our lives in order to "make it work", or to "get the job done".

A couple to get started:

I was thinking the same thing! Seems like it's just a bump away from arcing. However, there may be enough rust on it to prevent it from making contact!

That's what it looks like to me too. I guess that's and ingenious way to run a battery flat? I'm assuming it's not quite touchng.

I don't have a picture of my favorite but here it is, from another thread here:

All these stories of mowing lawns remind me of my stepson and the summer he decided to get rich cutting lawns. He had a self-propelled 21" Toro from the previous year and about May of that year he got a second one. On a Saturday morning I watched him drag them both out and line them up on the street and tie them together end to end. Then he got on his bike and went down the street a few yards, turned around and came back toward the mowers. He grabbed the handle of the lead mower as he went by and went of pedaling down the street towing these two mowers. I thought, "WTF?"
So I followed him. A local business had a lot of over an acre and he had gotten the contract to mow it. He had made a drum out of wood with a circumference of 20". He wrapped cable around it and staked it in the ground in the middle of the lot. He hooked the cable to a self propelled mower, then fired up the mower and set it free. While that one was going around and around he used the other one to trim up the corners. He figured this whole rig out himself. I was so proud of him I offered to help him haul the mowers next time.

Ha, I didn't notice that! HOWEVER - if you look closely you will notice that there is actually a .000000000001" thick layer of enamel between the connector and the c-clamp preventing any possibility of arcing.

There should be some real interesting ones from Cuba considering they keep their cars running after for some 50 or so years long after the US Automobile mfg's stopped selling there.

Could have benefitted from a little more ingenuity in this situation...

Can I see a pyramid being built?
They say a block has to be put in every three minutes to get one done in 20 years.!

This one takes the Cake! Can you guess? Stuck in Whitehall, NY. Had to get to East Fishkill, NY and back to Vermont. The car started stumbling and this what I did to fix it.

Replaced head gaskets. Forgot to tighten the bolt to hold the Alternator to the block. Lost the Belt and the bolt. Had the AC Belt a little longer. Wedged the ice scraper between the Block and Alternator belt adjuster. The top is secured to a ground strap from the motor to body.
Drove it for a week like this till I got a new belt.

[QUOTE=GH85Carrera;8052641]So he is doing an oil change in the street![/QUOTE

I kinda figure that he's inside the house looking around on the internet to find where the oil drain plug is located.

My first guess was that he was at Harbor Freight buying a floor jack.
