Agreed it looks like someone's home security camera video.
Someone needs to find the owner of that dog and punch them in the face.

Saw a cat do something similar once. My brother and I were in college. I had a lab, he had a golden. Both females, friendly with each other, hunted together actually. Anyway, for whatever reason we're both at my parents house, out in the yard the dogs are running, playing. At some point they start getting a little mouthy with each other. Nothing serious, just dogs playing.

My parent's cat at the time must have been close to 15 years old. At some point she had seen enough. In the blink of an eye the cat covered 30ft so that she was in between the two dogs. Jumped two feet straight up, howled and did what looked like some kind of Kung Fu move. In a second blink she was back under a car 30ft away. The two dogs stopped dead in their tracks and sat there with WTF looks on their faces.

We still laugh at that story, it helps that my brother tells it Jerry Clower style. -J

Dog owner should be charged with "assault by proxy". No excuse for an ill-trained dog to attack without provocation or command.

The article said the dog will be put down after the observation period. My first cat was one that lived in a junk yard and I had to tame hom. He had grown up among shepherds and pincers that guarded the junk yard and wasn't afraid of anything. When we moved to another home, he took over and wouldn't allow any dogs in the yard. The neighbor behind us had a K9 pincer inside an 8 ft. fence around the yard. The cat used to crawl under the fence & walk around in the yard. The pincer would just look the other way. I never had to worry about dogs in the yard, because they were quickly dispatched by that cat. His favorite trick was to lie down in the front lawn (no fences) asleep. A dog would come trotting down the street & see the cat laying in the yard and charge full blast directly for the cat. When the dog got maybe 7 or 8 feet away, the cat would be up in the air - lightening fast. The dog would start to try to stop, but the cat had it timed so the dog would be under him when he came down. He would ride the dog, scratching and yowling, through a couple of adjacent front yards and jump off and come back to his resting place in the middle of the yard. Didn't take long before all the wandering dogs kept to the other side of the street. Don't know if he would have protected me in that kind of situation or not.

After the incident, the dog was never seen again. :cool:

I tell my kids, she' so brave (or stupid) that one day they'll sing songs about her.

Les...by the pant leg or the leg. How do you know it wasn't the pant leg the dog pulled on? That would also result in the kid being dragged off his bike.

I'm not defending the dog - just curious if the kid got bit or was just dragged down by his pant leg.

Like I said...some dogs like to grab stuff like clothing....

The kid was wearing shorts so the dog grabbed his leg and then shook his head in the classic "wild dog takes prey" way.

Cats are under-rated. People typically think of tomcats being tough and fighting, but the females are the ones to watch out for. Anything that threatens their "family" (kittens or humans) will usually get pretty messed up.

The kid's leg needed stitches. Not his pants.

What I love is how the cat does the initial strike, then pauses (seemingly to make sure the boy is clear/ok), then takes off after the dog for a second run.

Good stuff. I saw another report that the kid got stitches, so it was definitely a mean bite vs a play bite. Dog should go down, owner should get his ass kicked.

I can't believe how fast the cat engages. I mean, knowing cats he was probably sound asleep in a sunny spot then had that dog on the run within 2 seconds.
