Not sure why they insist on the 2-tone. I saw three of the i8s a few weeks back and they are beautiful in person. They were solid color though. The two-tone doesn't really do it for me, and the wheels are hideous. The i3 in a solid color would be a bit more palatable - kind of Fiat-like. I like the 500e in orange...

I'm convinced that there must be significant numbers of people who crave/need attention and want to drive something so different from everything else on the road that they're willing to go to any lengths to do that, and the manufacturers/marketers know that, hence all the strange-looking vehicle designs on the showroom floor.
I think the Juke is sorta laughing at itself. The BMW, not so much.

At least it doesn't look like a dozen other cars out there - yet.

Snip...

Looks like the bastard offspring of a 1 Series and an Aztec...

"Our" 911s just increased in value again...

OMG Can you imagine someone actually buying one of these? ... I can't lol :D

Somebody resurrected the FIAT Multipla?????

cabmandone 05-15-2014 03:25 AM

Okay, who put the Fiat, Ford and BMW designer in the room at the same time?

onewhippedpuppy 05-15-2014 03:32 AM

I suspect the team at Audi is LOVING the new BMW design and engineering philosophy.

I did, eight years ago. Still one of the best vehicles I've ever owned, and certainly more reliable and a lot less expensive than the Benzs, BMWs and especially any of the Porsches I've had over the years.

That abortion of plastic and sheet metal needs to find its way into the path of a lava flow. Preferably quickly.

Todd, I do not expect any Honda to be a bad car. But damn they are only out uglied by the Aztec. And remember, the Aztec had a lot of innovations, for its time.

Fair enough...although I guess I'm just biased now. I do remember asking myself "who would buy one of these?" when they first hit the streets. I answered my own question!

FLYGEEZER 05-15-2014 07:31 AM

All that money for an ugly car! What are the germans thinking?

Porsche-O-Phile 05-15-2014 10:11 AM

Where did the Aztek get Pontiac?

Yea.

jrj3rd 05-15-2014 10:33 AM

They design them to be ugly on purpose. It is the same reason the prius looks like it does. More Priuses are sold then Honda hybrids because they stand out as "special" and all the special environuts want everybody to know that they are saving the planet and are better than us hydrocarbon burning mouth breathers. What's the advantage of driving these over any other vehicle -- self rightousness

That is a tough call. Might as well park an Aztec there as well...

Isuzu was way ahead of the curve.

I challenge any naysayer to go test drive one. Looks are one thing, but if you're not giggling like a kid when you punch it off the line, then you likely have no pulse :D

From the inside you can't see how UGLY it is on the outside.
