One of my clients uses "out of pocket", a lot, and it irritates the bejeezus out of me.

I use "team" but only if I count myself in it - usually when I am describing something to higher ups, etc.

Long ago I worked for a manager who referred to the staff as "my people". This was always irritating to hear.

Wondered how fast someone would post reference to that and BAM!! Classic... but that's my stapler.

the one phrase I hear quite often is......

'We win together and lose together' which usually translates into 'We are all in this together on your own'

If you don't do that how do you when your underwear needs washing?

When speaking to corporate or customer my engineers are "my team". When speaking to my engineering team I use "we" and "us".

does anyone play Bull$hit Bingo in meetings

If you don't then jot down a list of 10 phrases like eg 'Think outside the box' etc

Then during a meeting you tick them off your list as people say them. Who ever is first to tick off all 10, coughs very loudly while muttering the words 'Bull$hit' in such a way only those playing will notice.

Great fun and very hard not to lose it in a meeting.

I don't see anything wrong with using "team" or "guys" unless overused to an annoying level. But I don't feel compelled to use any greeting/saluation on group emails and often just getting to the point is best!

My boss sucks. I should never have started my own business.
