Fun video. The gauge package was pretty cool.

The number denotes the turn angle. 9 right for example is a fairly open right hand corner. The guys work out by speed or rpm what a 9 right is the car they are driving. A 9 right in a Carrera would be a diffrerent speed to a 9 right in a Gallardo.

did not really know too much about the "targa Tasmania" until this. What a cool event. There were other stages that this car did available on the same link. My favorite was the stage through a town, very cool to see the police cheering cars on.
This lead me to watch a movie called "the Beast" about Eric Banna driving an Australian made Ford in the event. This car is the polar opposite of any 911. For both an Aussie & gar guy a great watch. Also shows Eric racing in the Porsche driver series in Australia. Me thinks he blew his engine.

Awesome.

Amazing team. Just watching, I DNF'd more than once.... LOL. I couldn't keep up with that nav and his notes for anything and missed a half dozen blindy's.

It is really weird.....to drive along public roads, in the middle of big cities like Adelaide, wearing a helmet, a harness, a HANS in a car that will barely idle, that is completely unroadworthy, breaking every noise rule in the book, setting off car alarms, frightening old ladies, children and dogs - then pull up at a stage start, and chat with the police.....and then drive down 15 miles of closed road as fast as you can. If you tried it the next week they'd impound the car, crush it and arrest you for looking like an idiot in a race suit.

Do they do something with the steering in rally cars? The wheel looks far more horizontal than in a stock Carrera. It looks like he's driving a bus.

No, just the camera perspective.

I was there recently catching up with a high school friend. It's beautiful and well worth a visit and the people are great. It's very laid back with a relaxed atmosphere with some of the best food and wine in Australia.

Great Vids Stuart. It looks like a lot of fun. A friend of mine from the Porsche club SA goes every year. (Mark C......)

Oh yes, and Australian sea food is really something else.
