Seems like every other thread turns into some kind of pissing match. People have been getting more nasty, opinionated and arrogant. Even the simplest topic turns into who know more about it than the other guy.

Noticed that too Vinny , I come here because I generally like most of you guys/gals, and like the friendly back and forth that usually happens here . Hell, if I want to get treated like ****, I can just go to work, or tell my old lady that she looks fat in those jeans.

Seems to apply here.......My wife is a year or two older than Mrs. 126....She has a larger chest after a breat REDUCTION......I would never post a pic of here here dressed like that. But, I enjoyed his pic and don't think less of him for posting it......

How could it not have been the "garden" thread? There were some very hurtful and unnecessary comments made.

It appears to me that it's the same four or five guys spouting the vitriolic responses and opinionated criticism. My guess is they are all younger, powerless cubical workers looking for a place to be powerful. The anonymity of internet discussion forums enables that condition. If real names were used, as some club forums have done, the discussions would be more civil.

People didn't say negative things about the woman in question in the garden - it was more questioning the OP's motive/methods. And his responses certain had plenty of venom.

imho PARF has pulled down the entire place. PPOT has never been particularly sanitized or PC, but there typically was a level of respect shown. At some point about a dozen or so regulars decided that wasn't necessary and eventually PARF happened. There is a vocal minority that loves to roll in the mud, and it bleeds through to here.

People are never going to agree about everything. And there still are plenty of good people here. But from time to time I tune out as that minority get tiring...

The first part is not entirely correct.There was at least one really inappropriate comment directed Ms. 126 that had to be deleted.

I agree, but an additional mechanic I notice on the web is that people are more likely to "correct" or write a response to something they disagree with, as it actually upsets them and makes a stronger emotional need for response.

This is why I do not have a NASCAR or Google/Youtube account, I'd be online every waking minute responding and "correcting" comments.

Facebook came out with a system that sorted "top stories" based on the people you responded to, and I noticed people complaining that the top stories were all the things they didn't want to see. I pointed out that they replied to the stuff they didn't like more than the stuff they did like - so its the natural consequence if things get sorted by who/what you reply to.

I would much rather not have PARF at all, you get to know the people who make threads that you wouldn't be interested in and just not click, it also puts the things where other forum members understand why for no reason whatsoever some one rated an awesome thread 1 star, etc.

I only pop in every once in awhile to read threads now. They seem to be more and more of the same lately. I used to learn so much on this forum. Lately it seems like I just sigh, shake my head, and log out after a couple of minutes. There are so many lovely people I have met here but as of late, I haven't had the same feeling. My visits here have become more and more infrequent.

I have faith in Pelican though and won't leave.

Call me soft, but I do merger and acquisition negotiation and transaction restructure. I come hear to get away from conflict and share with fellow air-cooled Porsche enthusiasts.
