Monaco F1
Practice 2 live TV in one hour (0855) Eastern. For me, one of the best venues of the year
even though sometimes almost no passing. . The walls and barriers make it a "anything could happen" style of race. IMO ![]() ![]() Watching Senna was always a delight here! |

My favorite F1 race as well. I've been there twice, Monaco, not the race. When you see those streets, it's hard to imagine that they can go that fast on them. Will Red Bull be back in the hunt here?

Might be an opportunity for a new winner in 2014. Force India? Ferrari?

You may be right; I'm just thinking that the race is short, handling is at a premium, qualifying means everything, all the teams have a specific Monaco chassis package that's unusable at any other track, (maybe Mercedes got theirs wrong and someone else got it right?)
Plus, because it's a short, relatively slow race, won't all the teams be able to finally increase fuel flow? I don't know, so many variables in F1 these days, but I can hope... (remember - I predicted that Hamilton was making a huge mistake by moving from McLaren to Mercedes, so my views and opinions are suspect!)

We'll see what Saturday's quali brings. Nothing on tomorrow, as usual. Would love to be there. My wife went on a cruise 3 or 4 years ago and made a stop there and walked the track. Lucky her!

I'm on my G6 on my way to the race now. Does anyone have any Grey Poupon?

LOL, we started a Med cruise from Monte Carlo a few years ago and stayed in the Fairmont which is on the far left of the first picture above on outside of the apex of the hairpin. It was definitely Grey Poupon prices but absolutely worth every penny. My wife loved it.

Oops
I think I goofed. I don't think Mario Andretti ever did win at Monaco. I thought he had but afraid I'm wrong. Sorry.

So to make up for my blunder here's a couple of pics I like: Mario in a very nice looking Alfa in '81, and Gilles in his Ferrari when he won in '81

Hey, yellow, a fun fact, both of the drivers behind Mario in your original pic won Monaco, so you almost got it right!

Yeah, so my phrase "Mario among the winners" is kinda right.
Save me the research, who are those two behind? |

Yep. Now don't you feel better for doing the research yourself?
"Mario amongst the winners" - good one!

Like several others, been there twice but never to the race. Walked the course, though. Ran into Ringo Starr, of all people. As for this year's race, anybody but Hamilton. Oh, and also Vettel.

Looks like Fred is top of the time sheets for practice 2 by almost a half second over Hamilton and Vettel.
Always liked Monaco because it seems to be more of a driver's track than the other horsepower/handling tracks on the circuit.

So did Nico go off on purpose to save his pole? If he did it was a smart move.
