Game of Thrones...

I have decided not to watch it any more...with the Red Viper crushed in such a stupid way I have decided that I can no longer tolerate the endless barrage of let downs.

Anyone watch this stuff? I mean, WTF???

WTF at every turn???? ... Yes but that's why I love the show...

The scull crushing scene was stretching it IMO... After a spear to the chest there is no way a humane being could rise like that and do that sort of damage.
But hey it was shocking and I guess that the point.

BTW, That scene was very close to the book. So I blame you "authors"... lols

I watched that scene, knowing the red viper was going to die, doing the peak-a-boo with my hands over my face like a little school girl. No human could survive that stab to the chest, but this is a mystical world.

So upsetting his head exploded like a watermelon though, that guy was awesome. I did a little reading ahead, and the ramifications of that fight are going crazyyyyy...

every episode seems to get crazier and crazier...

Maybe I would have wrote it like that as well knowing the human condition addiction equation rests with anxiety and endorphins...but between the rapes, the cannibalism, incest, more heroes dying than you can shake a bloody sword at...too many taboos for this lily liver...I'm out. Yup, I'm a pussy...

I've only watched a few episodes of season one thus far. I just don't have time for it, and I certainly can't watch it while my kids (2 and 5) are around.

I read the first few books years ago, and then after waiting 5 or 6 years for a new book I decided that I would wait until he had finished the series. There are just too many different plot threads to keep straight, too many characters and events to remember for five years in between.

I have enjoyed the few episodes I have seen, and plan to try and see them all. Eventually I'll read all the books too and have a good comparison between them.

Part of the enjoyment is the constant plot twists, and knowing that no character is safe. It's completely unpredictable, which is what I liked about it the most.

I refused to watch after Emelia Clark (Daenerys) refused to do any more nude scenes.
But we got over our little spat, I forgave her, and I started watching again. I still sit in front of the screen and cry, "Why Dany, Why?" When she's on.
I fell into a deep depression when I turned it on last week and - NO GOT AT ALL!!
Is it just me or are the episodes are going faster? The show just starts and then someone gets destroyed and its over.

I got sucked in and now can't wait for the next episode. Never underestimate your enemy.....especially when he is 6'9" and weighs 400 pounds.

You should read the books.

I read the series (what he's finished so far) a couple years ago, and the wife and I just started watching the show--we're on Season 3 now. I think the producers have done an excellent job.

Dude needs to finish the next book!

Am I the only person who is really turned off by the violence and gore? I'll be totally honest here, that final head squashing scene was nauseating for me.

I remember watching Braveheart in the theater and thinking it was very graphic. That was rated R in 1995 - I think the only scene they cut for TV today is the nude scene by the river...

No, you aren't. I haven't watched the show and don' plan to. But then again none of our household watches much TV. Too many other things to do.

I'm turned off by movies like hostel and stuff involving very realistic torture. No need for that. But when there are dragons, giants, magic, and a really strong guy who can squash a head, it doesn't bother me. It's just a tv show. A fantasy one at that.

Shows have a disclaimer about graphic content and violence. If your squeamish towards that kind of stuff - best avoided. I thought it was a great scene. Yes kinda gross, but its just a tv show. Unless you think that tv violence can make perfectly sane people perform insane feats of violence....

Anyway, I'm off to go squash some heads.

I am, normally. But in Game of Thrones the nudity makes up for it - barely. (Ahem).
I think the show would be just as entertaining without the graphic gore.

Maybe it would, but the book has the gore, its on HBO, and it has an adult audience.

The extreme violence and gore is what makes it realistic. That era of humankind was not exactly all peace, love and flowers...

Yes, the era of dragons was indeed a trying time for humanity.
