Paging all Pelican animal doctors/vets

My GF rescued this small critter from a certain death in the middle of a busy road.
The poor thing has two infected eyes, which we are trying to wash with a mild dettol and water solution and then putting some (human) eye ointment.
It also coughs a little bit.

It eats grass and greens indepentantly.

Any tips on how to increase it's survival chances would be most helpful..
Thanks

You sure that rabbit doesn't have myxomatosis?

Thats a horrible painful death for it if it has.

If it has, I'll make the hasenpfeffer from it and send it to Idiot for him to eat.

Pretty sure it's just infected eyes, the little bugger eats, is active, craps and pees like new....
Doesn't seem to be in pain at all..

You obviously don't live here in the Conejo Valley, in Ventura County, CA. Those damed things destroy our lawns, gardens, and eat anything in the planters with color.

+1 on the Hasenpfeffer, but maybe add a pinch cayenne pepper.

It says where I live, right under my avatar...

They are not considered a pest over here..
We are trying to help this small animal because it feels like the right thing to do, that's all.
I won't let it loose in your garden, don't worry.

I am a long way from an expert, but I suspect only antibiotic eye drops or at least a intramuscular antibiotic is the best bet.

+1 on this . Reminds me of myxo in the UK many years ago. Rabbits went blind and eventually died. I believe it was introduced to wipe out an overpopulation of rabbits.
It did that but very painfully. Keep it away from pets. 50/50 that rabbit will survive.

My gf has a very big heart. Thanks for the kind words.

Tomorrow we're going to the vet.
Did some googling and it does seem to be myxomatosis.. We'll try and save him or do what is needed.

Luckily, no danger for dogs or humans

I never heard of myxomatosis. Wiki article paints a disappointing picture. Kudos for trying help the little creature out - even if that means ending its suffering.
