Nice! I'd love to get a 404, but can't find one.

Awesome resto! I look for these all the time (and considered pulling the trigger on the tan one you sold a while back). Your current rig is perfect for me.....but adding another car to the fleet would land me in divorce court!! haha

Good luck. Keep us updated!

I want either a Vons mog, or a converted CDF fire truck, the kind that blasts through the mountain forest to put out fires. I think the back would be cool as a converted camper or something.

Got a chance to finish the headers, turbo fit and exhaust this week. Now I can finish fitting the brake and clutch hard lines, electric and hydraulic lines. The charged air goes over the transmission and into a air/water intercooler then up to the intake on the pass. side of the motor. The exhaust goes into a factory muffler that is modified for 3" in/out. Next is to fit the cab back on to make sure everything will clear and then start on the AC fitting.

Thought I would update this thread since its been over a month since my last post. Got just about everything done on the chassis and will test fit the cab next week to get everything fitted and the turbo plumbed in with air/water inter cooler. As well as the AC needs to be finished up, something that was never offered on these trucks! Also fitted a set of low profile tires to an extra set of rims to make rolling the chassis around a bit easier.

WOW. That's just amazing. Like everyone else here. I want one. Now, I just have to buy a cabin in the mountains to justify storing it as I have no more room.

My wife and I rode in one ( built in 1960ish?), a long bed with bench seats, exploring the jungles of Mexico. I has the joy of sitting up in the passenger seat. That thing was awesome as I had some experience driving off road on our deserts and mountains here in socal in my old beater land cruiser. The Mog would go into ditches where I thought it would get stuck for sure, but it walked out effortlessly.

While you guys fight over the newly restored one, I will quietly take the yellow four door one in the back.

Hey Von,

How reliable are the newer ones with tough emission compliance and more electronics?

Very nice project.

My friend Laurie (that's him @ 6'7" for scale) has a warehouse full of those guys and has a few restorations going on all the time. Whenever I visit Ochtrup he takes me out in another...last winter he and a few other friends with Mogs towed about 2 dozen of us around the snowy roads while we sat at picknic tables mounted on skiis. Some drinking was involved. I'll see if I can find more pics, I have lots of his on film somewhere...

other than a few airlines for the shifter, the chassis is just about done!! Still have to stretch the spider frame, but will need to fit the cab first. I want to change a few things on the cab before I test fit it to the chassis. Then it will be paint and get everything ready for the Palmer, MA fall Unimog trail run on Oct.!! Even my better half likes it!
