Greatest invention of 20th century?

What do you think was the greatest invention of the 20th century? Cars? Computers? Medicine? Or what? My personal choice would be the mute button on a TV remote! Come on all, let's hear your thoughts!

This is not sarcastic, but I think it's great to be able to put your garbage in a box at the end of your driveway and have someone else haul it off. Similarly, to take a poo and flush it to wherever with no fuss, no muss and go about your merry way.

So to me, our modern utilities (water, sewer, power, trash) and right after that, our transportation network. We live in remarkable times.

No competition. Air conditioning. Nothing else comes close. I never went to a single school that was air conditioned. We loved in Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma and suffered through 100 degree days. BTDT ain't going back.

For that matter, you give somebody about half a dollar, and they'll take a letter across the country and deliver it to a specific address in a matter of a few days...
