I don't care if it has 10000hp. It's still a big pig of a pony car. If I want 6lbs/hp I will get a sport bike and have much better than that. But I won't do that because I want to live...
I like my sports cars light. That Dodge weighs more than twice as much as my 911 and the extra power and luxuries can't make it up to me. It's a cool motor, but the car does nothing for me. |

Then ask yourself if the $85K M3 is any nicer than the $32K 320i, except for the seats. Some people would rather compare it to other $85K cars.... say, a base M-B S550... then the M3 looks like a "chit box". It's really that simple. |
I think its cool as hell.
700 hp with a warranty and not a lot of mod's? Sign me up. As a car guy I can appreciate these high hp pony cars and can see myself having a new Shelby in the garage some day that I don't have to lose any sleep over blowing up and costing me $25K to rebuild.... Keep posting cool cars like this, I don't get any car magazines anymore as it just fed my car ADD..... Bill |
Look what a friend of mine is testing...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404367211.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404367230.jpg About $100K 455hp/385lb-ft Auto only 4,000 pounds (but carbon fiber hood, roof, trunk) But, will it have nicer materials? Certainly has the right badges |

Asking people on this forum about a Challenger is pretty much like asking people on a sport bike forum for their opinion on a Harley Davidson. There will be a few exceptions, but most won't get it. I have to admit, when it comes to any Harley Davidson, I don't get it either. Just not my thing.
I'm an old school muscle car guy. I still have the 69 GTO my parents purchased new. It's parked right next to my 72 911, that I tracked for several years. My love of sports cars also came from my parents, who in additon to the GTO, had a 68 XKE and a 71 911 thru my childhood. Even with a 4spd, The GTO was actually our family car. My dad still drives a 911. In the last few months I really decided I wanted to get another car, an american car. I was always torn on the Challenger, I always thought overall they were the best lookin of the three, but never quite cared for the rear end and hated the interior. Plus it is "heavy and doesn't handle very well". So I had pretty much decided that I was going to buy a ZL1 Camaro as a wedding present to myself . Well for 2015 they have addressed everything that I REALLY hated on the Challenger. They have completely changed the interior, fixed the rear end and have added the 6.4 in the RT. I can appreciate the Hellcat, but I'm going to order a 2015 392 Scat Pack Shaker with red/blk interior and 6spd. I don't care that its heavy anymore. I just love how it looks. It has a decent backseat that my kids can ride in, it has a very nice size trunk and fold down rear seat. Mopar also sells a really cool hitch where the receiver mounts verticle so its completely hidden. I'll be using it to tow my motorcycles to the track. A Volvo wagon isn't known to a handle particularly well, but on the occasions I've taken both of mine to the track, They somehow managed to embarrass a lot of people in cars that "Handle." I'm pretty confident the challenger will do the same ;) July 8 ordering opens up and I will be at the dealer. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404387101.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404387332.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404387432.jpg |
I love this color,(sublime) but think I'll just admire it from afar. dont think I could live with it everyday.

I'll have to side with Eric on the BMW. Further, while the Challenger is no Lexus I'd rather own it than the BMW at 100k. There's a reason why I don't even look at BMWs anymore.....
MMARSH, congrats on the purchase! It sounds like you went into the purchase with open eyes and got exactly what you wanted. Lots of different ways to have fun with a car, a muscle car can definitely be a good time. I consider myself a sports car guy, but have to admit that I've been watching used Mustang Boss 302 values. |

Being of a age where I grew up on early 70s cartoon cars and hot rod magazine, I'm liking it.
All the current muscle cars are pretty darn impressive, but I think the Boss mustang is the one that gets my motor turning. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CUtbhoYTHcI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I dunno why everyone's getting their panties in a bunch. I consider this "bench racing" and part of the fun of being a car guy. Heck, if we were all in a bar drinking brews talking about cars, this is the type of conversation we will be having. But I wouldn't expect the participants getting so worked up to start insulting each other. wtf? I for one appreciate that the auto makers are trying to target cars for a certain market. It might not be my cup of tea, but there's someone out there lusting over this car in a serious way. Hopefully, they will be fortunate enough to purchase the car and be happy. And in my mind, there's nothing wrong with that and probably a good way to enjoy life. I think it's great we all like different things. Else, a mfg'er would make that one perfect car, and then we'd all get it, and then what? Isn't that what Top Gear is based on? And we all love Top Gear, BBC. It'd be a different show if there was a cage match or duels w/ sabers to settle a matter of opinion. |

Frankly I'd rather have this one....

I felt this was quite telling when the Challenger came out.
http://www.allpar.com/photos/dodge/c...ew-and-old.jpg I had a Challenger for one week as a rental daily driver, about two hours in the car per day. Putting aside the rental spec V6, slushbox, and soggy suspension, my overwhelming impression of the car was the size. It's just big. That makes it spacious as MMARSH eluded to (I carried 4 adults regularly), but it just didn't do it for me. To each his own, I totally agree with pitargue. I consider myself a car guy, not just a Porsche guy. |
The new 8 speed is standard on all Challengers now which would help the Pentastar somewhat. If I were to get a 2 door I would be looking at them but we have two adults and 2 children.
