Have you ever met anyone who's unlucky in love?

My SIL is one. Third marriage going down in flames right now. Met this last guy on Match. They just got married last year after living together for three years. She said she had no idea that he had been living a whole other life that entire time.

He misplaced his cell phone recently and went into a panic. She found it while he went to go looking. She found texts and emails to and from other women dating back months. Sounds reminiscent of Anthony Weiner without the photos. Needless to say, she is talking divorce but now she's on the hook for the house they just bought.

My wife doesn't appreciate me asking how her sister could not have known until now. Either naive or desperate. She is a really pretty 53 y/o so why would she be desperate? Dumb as a stump but I can't tell my wife what I really think of her sister.

EDIT: I'm still no sure if he was right or not.
There has been plenty of times I've felt blessed with more than I earned.

Really sad. I know the feeling. I have had my fair share of unhappiness relationship wise. Took me until the ripe age of 48 to get lucky.

My BIL has been unlucky in love twice. Twice married and each woman a super b...ch. He is still married to the second one. Me? Second time lucky.

My theory is that when 2 members of the opposite sex meet each other you see only the good side. The evil side comes out later.(some more than others).

I've certainly known people who seem to have a dark cloud following them. One of my best friends married a woman he met in college that we all knew was a problem but how do you tell someone who's crazy in love their fiance is a raving lunatic and not lose a friend? She left him less than a year in to the marriage. Second wife died of ovarian cancer in her thirties. Current wife has a crazy family, failing health, never seems satisfied with his job or their "station" in life and he has not been happy for a long time. Somehow they cranked out 3 kids, two of which are still quite young. Their teenage son is a mess and the wife's parents have intervened several times much to the kid's detriment. He's stuck for a long time to come.

I have been single since 2007, some great relationships along the way but am starting to wonder about my luck. No drama in my life though which is rule number 1.
