I think closing that tread was an attempt to head-off pending critique and criticism. Sort of running away if you will. Obviously with the start of this thread that move was for not. The line drawn in this forum is when people brag about aggressive driving or so-called street racing. Quote:

Was weed involved in the creation of this thread?

The most amazing was one of the new Cadillacs. I happened to approach the light as it turned green after the left turn lane light was done. The Caddy saw me rolling into the intersection with a 30 MPH head start. That thing darn near exploded off the line and vanished in a flash. I lost again, but I could not possibly care less. I have never in my life "street raced" and I have no intention of trying. I did have a blast driving Laguna Seca at full speed a few weeks ago. My 911 did just great on track at the DE. |

Every time I'm in my Porsche, there is somebody that feels that it's a race. Because I like to be easy on 1st gear, I'm always slow off the line. Always. Almost like it's on purpose. :)
Besides, I prefer to have the road ragers and reckless drivers where I can see what they are doing. Then I can avoid them. |

Lots of strokes for folks. Once you venture out your front door you may see and experience all manner of things you may not appreciate. Some things you can't control. If you click on a thread with content that bothers you just don't click on it anymore. That's completely in your control. Pretty simple. |
Who cares? The human factor makes this a fuzzy discussion. It assumes drivers of each car has the same driving ability. We don't.
I once whipped around a vette on track. I was barely done patting myself on the back when a different vette pushed up on my ass. I had to let him by. Street races ? I've often wondered how many idiots think they crushed my 911. I never raced them. They go screaming away. Sent via Jedi mind trick. |
Neither one can hold a candle to that absolute pinnacle of automotive excellence - the Bullit Mustang.

Then I grew up. There was a very specific incident that contributed to it. Let's just say if I did not know my car as well as I did and had I hesitated even a fraction of a second I have little doubt that myself and my buddy Kurt who was with me would both be dead. The problem with it is not necessarily one's self. You have no idea of your "opponents" abilities. Way too many people with money who can afford cars that they are completely incapable of operating at any where near the cars capabilities. If they buy it due to their lack of skill and you are involved you are royally and completely ****ed. It's just not worth it. |

Personally I'm no longer willing to trade my financial security and freedom for a lawsuit and pinstripes on the chance that the other guy knows how to drive. YMMV. |
