My home burned on Saturday (7/5/14)
My wife and I were out shopping when we received a call from a neighbor that smoke was pouring out of our house and that they had called 911. By the time we got home there were 3 or4 fire trucks there and roughly half of the house was engulfed in flames. Luckily my son was at work at the time. No one was injured including the firefighters thank God! Have spent every day since going through what's left - about 90% is lost. People have been extremely generous on facebook, even setting up an online donation web page that my sister set up unbeknownst to me Anyway just thought I would share. I'm not fishing for donations, just feeling a little down and out right now and happy that my family is still with me.

Holy crap, that's terrible to hear! Very sorry for the loss of your valuables/memories but grateful nobody was harmed.
Any ideas what caused the blaze?

The main thing is no one was hurt. Possessions can be replaced. It will take time but you will bounce back. Wish you well.

Really sorry to hear of your fire. It is a disruption but thankfully all the important things were not in the house at the time. Best of luck in the coming days as you wade through the insurance labryinth.
Our house burned in 2010, Pelicans came to my aid with clothing and toy donations. Truly appreciated and thank you again to all that were involved. Contractors will be driving you crazy over the next few days. I collected thier cards and then set a day with a four hour window that allowed the 6 contractors to walk thru and generate a bid on the rebuild. I found this to be a pretty efficient way to handle to demands of my time and not to waste the time of the contractors. Again best of luck in the coming months.

Wow, really sorry for your bad fortune. I cannot even imagine how tough that would be. Hang in there. You will recover, and this will someday seem like a bad memory. Any cars damaged ? Did your mustang survive?
The facebook link above is not working for me. I'd love to help out a little if I can. If you need any manpower in the next few weeks, I bet we could rouse up a few pelicans to help out.

Glad everyone is okay - houses can always be rebuilt. I hope you don't run into too much red tape with insurance and all. All the best to you and your family and I hope you keep your good spirits in the days to come (which will probably be trying).

I couldn't imagine experiencing such a terrible loss but would be forever grateful to have no one injured and family safe. Focus on the family and hopefully in short time things will be better.
Many years back, one of my family members had a house fire. PITA - temporarily lived in a hotel, etc. It looked and was devastating but was surprised the amount of personal effects salvaged including old photographs that were soot covered and wet. Some of it had no value but meant more to them and in some sort of way, gave them hope for the better.

I don't know if the other link works for everyone or not, so I'm posting this one. I've got some more pictures on m phone and will try to post those tomorrow. Again, I'm not fishing for donations at all - I'm not one to take charity normally but people have been so generous through this for us that it's really changed my way of thinking. It's a real eye-opener for sure.
