Don't listen to the snobs. I am a big Bud Light fan in certain situations. On the boat, sitting by the pool, LSU football tailgating. It just doesn't make sense to drink a double IPA when I am going to be drinking for 12+ hrs. Also, I have even downgraded a bit not because of price but just because I like the taste of PBR. Plus.. it won a blue ribbon!

I am just as much about the biggest beer snob you will ever meet. But just like any other beverages certain ones are more fitting for different occasions. I will gladly sit down and enjoy a potent, punch in the face from a Stone Ruin, a cool and refreshing kolsch on a hot summer day, and a porter during the winter. I will never scoff or look down at someone for drinking what they like. That's the point of beer. Drink what YOU like and everything is fine.

Amen brother! Well put. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

Yuenglings my go to beer. But on a hot day or any day that I'm gonna be pounding them down I want something light.

ckelly78z 07-19-2014 05:34 AM

I've had some really bad beers like Robinhood Creamale, shocktop, Bluemoon, (wheat doesn't belong in beer), and of course, Old Milwaukee light at some beer festivals that I used to go to.

DonDavis 07-19-2014 07:49 AM

Beer...such a great thing. It comes in all flavors and can be served at several different temperatures. I like them all, some more than others.

Sure, I've hated on some beers and thumped my chest about them being piss-water. But truth is, do a blind taste test with some pilsners. Bud, Bud light, Miller, Miller Lite, PBR, etc... I think you'd be surprised at the results. I'm not saying everyone cannot tell the diff, just more folks than you'd expect will have a hard time.

Wrt the after effects, Bud will give me a headache fairly easily. But if I only have one or two, I'm ok.

PBR? Love it. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing, my Grandpa drank it, my cousins and I drank it at the lake a LOT in our youth, and it gets the job done.

My all time favorite beer is my former Father-in-law's home brew. Former Marine ( Viet Nam ) and worked on helicopters his whole life. Did final inspection on Apache/Longbow for years. Meticulous to the Nth degree. His beer is the shiz-nit. He makes a Belgium trippel and double bock that is so good.

I'm going to visit him next week in SandyEggo. I hope he's made some, if not, we'll hit Green Flash Brewery and/or Stone and get some growlers filled. But I guarantee he has some Miller Lite in his fridge.

Prost!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

You're lucky your buddy didn't have a coronary event. Americans aren't as fit as they once was. Lousy beer doesn't help either.

Me too. I feel that one along with Schlitz (spelling?) have a nostalgia feel to them that I love. PBR is my "hipster douche bag" concert beer of choice!

I will also add that I prefer canned beer...

I always ask if they have cans, much prefer beer that way.
Never fails in bars w/o cans and I get bottled beer the dumbass bartender asks me if I want a glass.
My response to the D/A bartender is "it's in a glass."

I believe the beer was Coors in the movie.

I agree. I often referred to these lighter, "domestic" brews (Bud, Miller, Coors, PBR, etc), as my "lawn mowing" beers, because when kept ice cold they are soo good when you come in from working in the yard all day.

That's awesome, because I call them the same thing. My go-to for hot weather activity is Miller Lite. I think it has the most beer taste of any light beer. Plus they have the pints with a screw on lid, which are tailor made for boating.

To everyone that can get Yuengling locally - I hate you. It's not available in the central states, I have to make up for lost time when I visit FL.

I'm the opposite....though I've had thousands of 'em in a can...bottles (when pratical) for me! PBR in a bottle...ABSOLUTELY, and I sure ain't trying to be a hipster either :p

rfuerst911sc 07-20-2014 05:15 AM

It would have to be " I've been sitting on the sun " for a week for me to enjoy a Budweiser :D

jyl 07-20-2014 05:26 AM

I'd try one and see what the hoopla is about, but you can't actually order a Budweiser at any pub in Portland. It's illegal or something.

Where you going? Mono Pass?

cashman 07-20-2014 06:41 AM

We used to drink cases of bud back in high school. Now, one or two buds is a guarantee for a headache. Bud light is the only beer that has induced an instant gag reflex.

PBR has made a huge comeback over the last 2 year's. Makes me laugh, that's the beer would steal out of our neighbors garage back in the younger days. And that was only as a last option if we couldn't get anything else.

Back when I was a teen (late 70s), it was a treat to get a case of Coors from someone who'd been out west and brought some back. And Stroh's (whatever happened to them?)...folks would drive up to VA and bring it back by the cases too. "Supposedly", they had a higher alcohol content and that made 'em special. Once they became readily available "here"....the novelty wore off REAL quick ;)

sand_man 07-20-2014 07:37 AM

I love it that I can get Sam Adams, Dales Pale (always was in a can), Stella, Siera Nevada, etc. in cans!

We have a ton of beer choices here in the Pacific Northwest. I like lots of the micros, but much like many other posters here I don't there is anything wrong with an American style pilsner on a hot summer's day. I personally prefer Miller High-Life in a bottle. So cold it makes your teeth ache.

Racerbvd 07-20-2014 01:02 PM

we had a gig at the local Bud brewery yesterday, they have a sample room were you can try all their products, sadly I don't drink anymore, but did sip some of their new stuff and was pleasantly surprised (and those who know me know that I'm a beer snob, from before it was cool. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1405890082.jpg

Course this is how we use to go to the races, but with a much better selection:D

Hey Byron...remember Ragtimes? That restaraunt/bar at Atlantic Beach years ago that had a really nice selection of at least 30+ beers on draft. So what did I order when I was there...."BUD". Yep, I always caught hell from the bartenders too! I'm much "weiser" now :D

Just saw my resident frog family in my back yard, and made me think of this thread
