I bought my 1983 SC in Ct 12 ? years ago which was a good experience. The state has some great driving/ biking roads if you look for them. I pass thru the state often there are good things about it. Although, somehow, there is a sort of old puritan thing, I can't quite put my finger on it. New Haven has the most amazing old pizza place, Frank Pepe's. It's been there since the 1930's.
I know a great mechanic for 914's in East Hartford: Tangerine Racing. Might be worth it to get a 914, if you have the desire, since you will be there and Tangerine Racing is there and Lime Rock is not too far away.

I get to Chicago, my neighbors, whom I've never met, help me move into my new house.

CT: small town like Mayberry, very friendly and helpful.

MN: suburbia, very friendly, 3-5 neighbors we'd all go boating/camping for the weekend on the St. Croix most of the summer

TX: suburbia, only lasted a year, only one friendly neighbor

Western MA: so-so, not super friendly

Chicago: very friendly

NYC: very friendly

Cambridge/Watertown, MA: very friendly
Not surprised you had to move so much. I guess the neighbors got tired of your foolishness. Did you take your imaginary girlfriend with you or did you find a new picture on the web to date?

I would avoid staying IN Meriden if you can. There are plenty of surrounding towns that are a very quick commute to Meriden with no need to get on the highway.

I am from Durham and can be in Meriden in 10 minutes. We share a school system with Middlefield (another small town option) which sits between Durham and Meriden. Durham/Middlefield are small towns with friendly people.....and a quick drive to the shore. Cheshire & Wallingford are good options - larger towns with more "city" perks like parks and so forth.

As others have mentioned....don't register your cars here. I pay over $3K/yr in car taxes. My father's Ferrari 575 is north of $4K alone!

Wow. I never knew how bad I had it.

Personally, after 30+ years here it ct I like it.

Weather: we get a large number of gorgeous driving days April to November. Sure it can get steamy. Dec to March is winter. Salt and stuff. Park the car. But, and it is significant, winter often doesn't start to late dec early jan. Also a hard rain in February March will start season early.

Roads, off the highway can be rough but they are NOT straight. Highway commuter traffic can be LA, esp I95.

Yes three cities have bad sections. Don't live there. 5 miles away is rural/suburban.

NYC. Boston. White mountain. The sound. The cape. Adirondacks. All within 4 hours. DC is 6+ hours

Lime rock. NHIS. Pocono. And now Thompson speedway. All easy drives.

Taxes suck. But you get services. And they are deductable.

I might not move to Meriden. Check Zillow or something similar to get an idea of cost and schools. But, my town, Windsor will fare poorly. Except everyone from other towns seem to spend time in our parks and using the services my tax pay for.

I'm from CT.
