Interesting - because I freak out when there's too much noise around me. Literally drives me psycho.

Children screaming in a swimming pool over the fence while I'm working at a project....or a dog that keeps barking a few houses down...over and over and over and over for an hour or more. Chain saws at work - even if a few houses down...sound carries....bzzzzz.....bzzzzz....bzzzzz.......bzzzz zz.

Or the chatty cathys who for some reason insist on talking on their freaking cell phones at the end of their freaking driveways....for a half hour at a time.....yak yak yak...

Meanwhile I'm trying to maintain my zen.

I despise noisy humans.

My neighbors are drinkers and smokers and her voice is so grating and she laughs like a macaw and is always in a great mood yelling out at everyone as they go by our road. Think Fran Dresher laugh.

I'm on the barrier island north end - a nice area - you just can't escape hillbilly behaviour!

This is what my neighbors must think of me!!!!! But add loud stinky German car, and band jams in the garage that turn into late night parties every second weekend and a huge diesel truck that rumbles out of the driveway every weekday at 5:00 am....... Its good to be me, but not so great to be my neighbors!!!!!! LOL!!! (we all SEEM to get along)

Good thing he's got hearing issues because my mother in laws normal conversation level is a decibel below a Metallica show and she slams everything. Cabinet doors, room doors, dishes, pots n pans.

Sounds like a chuck wagon rolling down a cliff.

Been here less than 24 hours and my nerves are already shot.

I've never understood why people can't just say "NO". If your wife wants to visit her family, by all means she can. Doesn't mean you need to go.

My wife and I both have this understanding. And neither of our parents are hard of hearing. :)

My FIL doesn't hear well and won't admit it. Just cranks up the TV to where it's unbearable to everyone else in the room. MIL was always yelling at FIL to turn it down. Last year I bought and installed a set of Acoustic Research wireless speakers for them. They love them. Each has their own speaker right by their chair. They can turn them up, down, or off as needed. I sent them a third speaker for the kitchen. Just got a text from my FIL this afternoon asking if I could round up another set. They had some friends over who saw theirs said they needed the same set up.

I feel for you. When I was married to the Viking it was similar with her father, except his loud TV was blaring out Danish - not the most lovely language in the world. In fact, you can do a good approximation of Danish by sticking your finger down your throat and saying, "Clock!" over and over.

My wife's family is like that too, drives me nuts. They would rather pile a small army of people onto air mattresses than spend $100 for a hotel room. I've on multiple occasions told my wife that I'm not 12 anymore and that I prefer a bedroom, and instead booked our own hotel room. Even that can be a fight, because when we've gone on trips with them it's always suggested that we share hotel rooms. WTF? I like my space, and they can definitely afford their own room. My baseline rule is that if I can't get my own room, I'm not going. I like my in-laws, but don't want them in bed with me.

I believe we have a winner. If they aren't drinkers, purchasing a flask may be in order.

Same here w/my fiance's soft voice. I just say, "Mumble a little louder, please."

Sitting here having coffee and watching the news and all I hear from the kitchen is

"Peanut butter, I like it, but with jelly, grape was always my favorite, dad likes strawberry, hah, peanut butter and jelly, it's good, lots of protein, Conner, you sure you don't want jelly, just peanut butter, jelly is good, you should try it, I
Like grape........"

My MIL making my son a sand which

She's talking to herself

Went on for 10 minutes

Right now she's in her bedroom talking to herself

She's not senile, she's been talking to herself as long as I've known her.

It's just constant chatter

Kind of funny for a little while

Pretty sure she's ADD.

vash 07-24-2014 05:38 AM

Can be like that at my parents house but it is usually the hate mongers from Fox news on all through the day way too loudly over and over again. And since they are older, temperature is bit warm. Summer or winter. Can be sweating in shorts...

When I get old, it will be Zeppelin over and over was too loud.. ugh wait, that's how it is now.
