As far as I can tell you can't get a new manual 3-series wagon in the USA

But you can get M sport brakes for $650

But like all AMG models, they are missing one of these.

NO
1) Mazda6 Wagon - Not available New in the USA
2) Mercedes EClass Wagon - Too big, not sporty
While you're at the Subaru dealership, drive the Crosstrek also just for kicks. I just bought one a few months ago for my dd. It doesn't check the 'luxury' box but i really like mine so far. Great mileage, well built, relatively simple compared to most other vehicles on the road (check out the oil filter location ...), and the coolest wheels out there . And it does check the 'being a little different' box - you don't see alot of them on the road.

Here is the list in order of current preference pending test drives:
1) Cadillac CTS Wagon New or Used.
Took test drive. REALLY liked this. LOVED the ATS but cannot get in a wagon. Very sporty.
2) Volvo v60 Wagon - Went to dealership. Loved the size of this one, and interior is quite nice. Didn't have time for test drive. Think manual is only on the R so might be financially out of reach
3) Subaru Outback or legacy New - I am warming up to this one. I think tomorrow I'll hit the dealership. dave 911you and I have some similar tastes so I'm going to check it out.
4) BMW new/Used 3 series - still a maybe
5) Audi Allroad (as a4 no longer available) New or Used - still a maybe

Dropped SAAB - Thanks Nostril Cheese

onewhippedpuppy - some great ideas, I'll have to investigate these. They may not fulfill the fit the dog criteria, but I am always looking for an excuse for a test drive!

OK let me close the thread again.

Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, EJ22 closed deck from the factory, 400hp is very attainable without sacrificing reliability. Beautiful interior too!

Available with an Auto or Manual

No manual transmission on any Volvos anymore. The R-Design is the monster in the family, but the T5 AWD is nice as well. Check out the promos on them. Finance the car 100% for 3 years since they waive the first payment.

I am a bit torn between refreshing my dd wrx wagon a bit or buying a new car. It has 100k miles and has been perfectly reliable, but it doesnt feel quite as tight as it used to. I suspect it needs new struts and a bunch of bushings.

Ironically I get more compliments in that car than I do in the 930. Its bizzaro but they younger folks seem to really like that generation of wrx wagons

Looks promising, but they don't sell the legacy in a wagon that isn't the outback anymore. At least, not according to the dealership. Also, the outback no longer comes in manual according to the dealership. Or their website. Shame, looks great from behind.

Heavily leaning toward this car. Stay tuned....having dealer locate me one. Hopefully, we can make a nice deal... Oh, as luck would have it, the Audi is driving great again...it must know I am looking at other cars.

So have you driven the Volvo? I think they're great looking cars, and the performance numbers on them look good.

Yes, I have. Holy cow what a difference! Nothing like my 2002 Volvo v70. Much more like BMW or Audi quality.

Sounds like a winner then. Are you going with the R-Design or Polestar?

So I had to dealer located me one...or should I say build me one. It just came in last night, 3 months later, and hochi mama, what a ride. Funny, when it came in it hit the dealer website they had 6 calls for it in 2 days.

The car is fantastic. Love the color, the seats are fantastic. It even texts me on my phone when I leave the door unlocked! I have since learned that only 80 made the US market and I got one. The car is wicked fast and really handles nicely. The only negative is that you cannot get one in manual transmission but that is true for almost all cars now a days.

2015 Volvo V60 Polestar First Test - Motor Trend

Thanks again for your recommendations and suggestions. It's been a fun ride. My old Audi is going to my nephew...hopefully, he'll get at least 20k miles out of it.

Very cool!!! Impressive stats as well.

Gotta wonder about the name, though. One of the designers/engineers have a thing for exotic dancers?

Audi Avant RS6 ABT only 700 ponies >>>>>>>>

ABT Sportsline shows 700-hp Audi RS6 Avant | Autoweek

Apparently, ABT Sportsline felt that the 560 hp output of the stock 4.0-liter TFSI-engined Audi RS6 Avant wasn't enough, and tuned the ABT Power S version to produce 700 hp. That's a 25 percent increase in power over the stock version. Likewise, the torque output has been increased to 649 lb-ft. These figures reportedly give the already eye-wateringly quick RS6 Avant the ability to sprint from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds, up to a top speed of 198 mph. That certainly makes for one fast grocery getter.
