60 and raining in Portland.
You can have your nuclear furnace heat. I'll take the rain and trees everywhere.

That IS nice, but I couldn't stand to live somewhere that is (almost) always rainy and dreary. I love going out and basking in the sun.

Some like it HOT!!!
Yea but most of the year it's this (and I know - I used to fly in it up there!):
![]() OR is unbeatable when it's nice. The other 10 months of the year? Not so much. I counted 52 straight days of no sunshine and some form of precipitation when I lived there. As a plus there's no snow, but 40° and peeing rain for months at a whack gets mighty old mighty fast. I ran screaming back to southern CA. I like it hot. This is my style: ![]()

I lived in Gresham for 2 years...at one time in the summer of '09 it rained or drizzled 32 days straight.
But when it was nice...it was really nice. Then again, that summer when it was 95' +, it had 100% humidity for a week. I bought 3 portable air conditioners that week.

Water temp - a concern for me, for sure. . When I scoot that 11' Costco umbrella (built a dolly for it - sand pedestal weighs 200 lbs.) around to block the sun over the side edge and then over the deep end (9 feet) later in the day, I can keep the water temp around 84'. When I just leave it sitting at that deep end, the water gets up to 87' - 88'...today the water temp may reach 90'. But even when the water temp is in the high 80's it can be quite pleasant at 10 -11 pm when the ambient temp is 90' - 95'. . I like the water temp down around 82', myself, (nice and brisk) and have an idea and a drawing for a mobile white tarp cover assembly for that deep end. . I have another 11' Costco umbrella still to unpack and to build another dolly for it and then place it over the water. . Nothing like a cool swim just before retiring for the night here in Dismal Nitch, AZ. ![]() . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_iSUHAQ9BQ

Tucson's a great city--it's where I grew up. Live about an hour away from there, now.

Just had that pool refurbished...and chose that light-colored Pebble-Tek for a reason. I'll get the temp down one of these days...I like a cool pool temp. Even when the water temp is in the high 80's, if there's even a slight breeze, it'll cool you off when you get out.

More pool dope...if interested...
The pool has just been refurbished - less than 2 weeks ago.
I have plans to do the whole pool area...Pergola (already bought - need to build it), pavers, lighting, ornamental shrubs, etc. My place sits on an acre so I have lots of room to dink around. I'm retired so what else is there? . I bought the place in 2010 and just had no reason to rebuild the pool (I didn't really care) - but I have a fiance now. ![]() I got 5 estimates for the pool renovation - the old pool was the original, built in 1960 and had been empty for years and was a mess. All of the above-ground PVC was dry and useless. The pump was inop. . 4 bids were all over $20k for everything new. One bid was $26k. I found a young stud who is taking over his father-in-law's pool company. He did the entire rebuild for $10k+. New return lines, new vari-speed pump, new sand in filter, all new wiring, the works! . We like it! ![]() . ![]() .

Perfect here - 90* and low humidity. Pretty much what my whole summer will be like (just have to survive the 90 days of snow in the winter).
