That poor guy in the following Boxster is gonna have some lingering smells in that car in a few weeks for sure!

****in deer. Just got my 951 back from the shop after hitting a deer.

I was thinking I'll bet that was Summit Point before I watched it. I was there for a track day when a guy in front of me took out a turkey, although it may have been a buzzard, they look the same in liquid form

Moto rider hits deer - broken leg...not pretty.
This has always been one of my biggest fears as a moto rider.

The deer won't have the guts to do that again!

My brother was working with the crew during an open test day at Road America when Christiano da Matta careened into a deer. Awful ordeal. I forget who he was listening in on the radio but a fellow Brazilian driver had passed the incident and trying describe the mayhem. Was saying something like Santa or reindeer and for a moment the crew was baffled.

Was chief steward for PCA Potomac for several years in the. 90's. Never had a deer problem at Summit. A fee other critters but no carnage. The corner workers there were very good at spotting trouble

....just there last week and we had several deer episodes. One of the problems with containment at Summit Point is that there are deer colonys (herds/families) living in the infield woods, and outside the track -

Seems like that would be a pretty significant liability issue.

Scratch Summit Point off my list of tracks I want to run.

They need a deer PROOF fence, and a few hunters to rid the place of deer. That is a MAJOR problem for the track.

Iffn I lived back east I'd add these to track-day necessities list ;)

I work out in the boonies in SC. One of my employees has managed to hit 6 deer with her car(s) in the last year, even with the deer whistles mounted on the front bumper.

Well, they were mounted on the front bumper; I think the latest deer suicide took them out.

The pisser is that Summit Point's main track and the Shenandoah Circuit are a lot of fun to drive on.

My wife's cousin ran a company with a lot of company cars. They had deer whistles on all of them. He figured the whistles were the spot the deer would aim to hit. He said the whistles were just ugly bumper ornaments and a wast of time and money.

widgeon13 07-28-2014 09:16 AM

They do not work!

lgb240 07-28-2014 03:01 PM

A BMW would have eaten the deer

I feel for the guy, and I know it wouldn't have prevented a broken leg, but what's he doing riding a MB with shorts on??

Tobra 07-28-2014 04:20 PM

Lucky that deer did not make it a few feet farther across the track before it was hit, or that guy would probably be dead.
