I passed a bunch of those Can-Am things on PCH going out to Malibu yesterday, I just don't get them. They can't lane-split so they are just sitting in a line of cars going nowhere in burning heat while all of us motorcycle riders pass through at a normal speed.

They are like a MC w/o the benefits or a car w/o A/C and shade. WTF.

If it were not so ugly I'd be sold on the spec's alone.

most importantly, less than half the cost of a morgan 3 wheeler. 20 grand for the base model, 24 for the SL version (and id skip the SL version to be frank). 1700 lbs, 170 hp ... rear grip limited hahaha

Yes indeed! Love the Morgan...3-wheeled car vs. 3-wheeled MC.

On a related note, saw an Ariel Atom tearing down Sunset a couple weeks ago, guy wearing a MC helmet.

Cool! A sketchy three-wheeled tippy car where you have to wear a helmet! Just what I never wanted.

I do think it's awesome that the marketplace is getting more diverse, though.

Weird, ugly but I'm sure this isn't targeted to motorcyclist enthusiast. These trikes are aimed for a whole different (and new trend) market.

It draws no appeal to me but I suppose it could be a different (fun?) sensation. Like other toys, road and dirt bikes, ATV's (sub-category of all type), snowmobiles, they have their place. Many of you have never been on a performance sled and there's nothing like it. Unlimited speed limits (well, depends where riding) and endless miles of smiles trails. Perhaps these trikes are aiming for those who don't have easy access to snowmobiling or don't have motorcycling handling skills, whatever.

Comparing to what one of these trikes are about, I'd be willing to test ride for a giggle - although it would take a track days to wring it out and get into it. And these trikes are nothing like a sport bike where you can still get road use plus club track time or racing in.

1. you weigh 300 lbs? yuck

2. adding the same weight to a bike or car will hurt its performance just the same.

i watched an older gentleman pull up with one at starbucks. he had a cane. he had a bad limp. he pulls his helmet off, and put on one of those "old man" mesh back caps..worn way high on his head. USS something.

i got the door for him. he looked damn happy to be out on the open road and i was was damn happy for him.

there's a place for them for sure..not for everybody.
