OKC car dealer fined 350k for deceptive advertising

And frankly, it should have happened a lot earlier.

Definitely preying on the gullible and fiscally uneducated.

$18K in personal credit card debt is not making wise choices!

Car dealers have been pulling this crap forever. Apparently if you spend enough on ads, the local media will ignore it too.

In a similar vein, I just got not one, but TWO forms in the mail "regarding my mortgage" instructing me to "fill out and return immediately". Only if you read the fine print would you realize that they were applications for mortgage insurance. TWO different companies pulled this crap.

Further proof why people hate car dealerships.

They nailed one statewide chain of dealerships around here a few years back for crap like this. It was so bad, the state passed some additional legislation to combat it but, it still goes on all the time. I don't think there's anyone I hate dealing with more than a dealership and car salesmen.

We shouldn't be so hard on dealerships. Not all are dishonest. Its only the 98% that give the other 2% a bad name.

I thought the "weather dong" contest at the bottom of the page was particularly entertaining... Good site.

It is a pretty funny site, and good spot for news like this that networks are afraid to pick up.

I live in OKC, and guessed the dealer before opening the thread.

Yup, talking with my dad today and he had been visiting with his friend at a ford dealer. He had a customer wanting to trade a nearly new vehicle that had been purchased from Stanley. They had tacked on so many extra fees and goodies that the guy was upside down in the truck. The ford dealer called them up and balked about it and they refunded $8k on the deal... Can you say guilty conscious? And how many people have they pulled that crap on that just paid it? Just sad to think that there are people out there stupid enough to fall for these gimmicks.
