No good deed goes unpunished
Was in lowes today buying stuff to fix one of our toilets and saw the washing machine hoses. Reminded me that the hot hose on our washer was looking really bad. So I bought the hoses and decided to change them, thinking it would only take a few minutes. Boy was I wrong. Apparently the corrosion went past the hose connection. As the valve broke off in the freaking wall!! Ooops!!! Scrambled to get the water shut off then got to work trying to stop the spread of water with the shop vac. Got it all replace with new valves and now I need to patch the wall. We've been planning to paint anyways, but not a fun way to spend a Sunday for sure!
![]() ![]() ![]() And I still need to fix the damn toilet! However, finished up about 7, grilled burgers and hot dogs for dinner and then watched the kids swim, reminds you life isn't so bad, no matter how crummy the day is.

Plumbing problems are never a simple fix. At least two trips to the hardware store is typical for me.

Matt.... Our dream is a tiny house( 2 shipping containers max) with a nice big shop building nearby. Of course that has to wait until the boys are out of the house... But construction may start in the next 5 years.

True but those sharkbite connectors really make DIY plumbing a lot easier. One of the better inventions plumbing wise in a long time me thinks.

I removed it, but it just didn't get a good bite on the pipe after that.

I hate plumbing.
I can tear apart and rebuild a complete POS car with less hassle then a small plumbing repair

Regarding the Sharkbites, if you're attaching to copper you need to clean the end of the pipe just as well as if you were soldering. I use the exact same pipe cleaning tool for both. They are fantastic, especially for wet repairs where soldering isn't possible.

Yup, sanded and cleaned the copper up nicely first. And my neighbor would have loaned me a torch to solder, but I thought with that drain pipe so close, I didn't want to risk it.
