This is Max. I rescued him from a hole in a cmu wall. His mom was killed by a coyote.

Stanley is the smartest and weirdest cat we've ever had! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1417753014.jpg I do believe Stanley has a thing about shoes... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1417753192.jpg |

The lion spent New Years in the animal hospital. Got him home today. Tomorrow marks the 1-yr anniversary of his brother's passing from kidney failure. He had a neck abscess with celluitis. The first operation wasn't enough so he got two more drains. Cost was $1200. Most of this was pharma. He had been super lethargic for the last couple days which coincided with it starting to get below freezing here. I didn't think much of it at the time. My SO said he was off on his normal morning routines and this is a good indicator that something is wrong with a pet. I spent all last night plus this morning trying to find pain meds: That vet was out, as were all the pharmacies(Meijer/CVS/etc/etc/etc). UM hospital pharmacy is limited only to UM staff and students.Every single other vet wouldn't sell to non-customers. Apparently there are big new FDA rules about expensive controlled substances/pain meds in cat-sized portions. The antibiotic is cherry flavored. Seriously. What animal likes cherries? Went back to the vet today and bought another pain med. Only one other medicine was available. In hard pill form. He won't eat it, even ground with tasty food. I'm not very impressed with Big Pharma and FDA. |
My 16 year old breathed her last yesterday as I sat with her. Sweet cat, but something serious felled her. First time without a cat in the house in 15 years. I have to do something about that.

Sorry to hear that. We lost two barn cats to Feline Diabeties in the past few years, very fast fall.
While there is nothing quite like the nose of a Labrador nudging your hand, so to are the whiskers of a good cat. |

You might try rolling a piece of soft Kraft cheese slice into a small ball (marble or less size) and then sliding the pill into it. Cover up well. Another thing you can try is to get a pill splitter, and cut the pill into smaller pieces, for insertion into cheese balls. Good luck. |

He and his brother (Tucker) are outside cats and have a pretty good life here....showed up as a litter of 4 orphans 8 years ago and now we're down to just the two males.http://ehealthwoman.com/apple/images/49.gif http://ehealthwoman.com/apple/images/51.gif

This little guy was outside our basement door crying one night last November. It was pretty cold out and we let him in. My wife said "Let's name him Thomasina!" I said you know that's a girl's name, right? So meet Thomas the cat. |
