 The CAT thread.

Photos, and something about your cat.
This is Chalkie. She got to be 21 and a half years old. I put that down to eating fresh steak everyday  and never hearing the word no. Super confident and loved a party on in the house. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409211757.jpg I love this cat. He is my present pet. He was a wild cat down on his luck so I started feeding him, and, well cats... A while later he had moved in and sleeping on the end of my bed :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409212248.jpg |

I thought this thread was gonna be about yellow bulldozers??

This is Suki, and he sleeps that way 95% of the time...

This is Ghia. My wife got her from the Persian rescue. She's a PITA. She smells bad: her face is so jacked up from countless generations of inbreeding to get "the look" that she doesn't have the capacity to keep herself clean. Her eyes are constantly clouded up with mucous. She snores. She gets her face wet when she drinks and then dries it off by laying it on clothes/furniture/anything dry. She's already racked up a couple thousand in medical bills. She has ruined several hundred dollars worth of carpeting/bedding/etc by peeing all over it, but the wife keeps making excuses for her, and so she stays.

I have two that were taken in at 5-6 months born to a small feral colony on my crazy ex father in laws property. Toby and Tilly. The male was very attached to my lab that passed away on Monday. As I type this the two of them are chasing each other all over the house. They get along really well. Tilly is a master at leaving hair everywhere and sleeping in odd yoga poses.

Here's Callie (calico) and Carlotta (black-and-white). They were both born in my back yard, although with different parents and a year or so apart, in a '56 sunroof bug shell I had. I got them fixed and they were besties until Callie got hit by a car last spring. During the cold snap last winter they would sleep in the garage on a pile of towels behind the wine fridge.

 Pickles and Rika.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409235551.jpg I love cats. On a farm cats are essential. We have three cats, two barn cats and a house cat, all rescues. The two barn cats are 2 and the house cat, Didi, 12. He brother, Dexter, died last year. |

Our new addition... Marshall... the most interesting cat in the world.

These are our two. On the left is Rio, a Maine Coon; on the right is Vivian. Their personalities could not be more different, I don't think. He is friendly and outgoing and a bit of a goof, she is very shy. But she is absolutely committed to Rio - rarely lets him out of her sight. Both are rescue cats adopted at the same time - and yes, we kept the names they had when we adopted them. FWIW, we have learned the hard way and now never, ever, let our cats go outside. We were skeptical about this at first, but they have done beautifully being indoor cats.

 My minions:
Linus: http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...8494ee6d75.jpg Lucy (Linus' mom - on top of the refrigerator is HER space!): http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...c471e30df9.jpg "Mystery" (yes that's really his name. I like him, he's a total sassy punkass): http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...2f0617d870.jpg |

Had our previous cat of 15 years put down (liver failure); wife was heartbroken. Said she'd eventually might want another cat, but wanted to wait 6-8 months. Two weeks later we came home with a pair of kittens, Russian Blue mixed:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401388661.jpg They pretty much named themselves: Fat Boy (small body with a really big head) and Squeaky (first month or so he tried to meow it came out more like "eek"). We just celebrated their 10th birthday, both fat and happy: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401388796.jpg BTW, Fat Boy is ~13 lbs. and Squeaky is pushing 19 lbs. |

This is Moggy Noggins. Gone but not forgotten. He was definitely Mr. Fun :)

Widebody you mention vet bills... Toby, cat in pic #2 and here again, I joke with my friends "You wouldn't believe it, I got the cat FOR FREE." I'm now getting close to $4,500 in vet bills. Not to mention my own medical bill for when he was still in his wildcat mode of the early days. LOLhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409260679.jpg

This is Mayhem he was bore in the drought 2 years ago. Someone found him in a field and took his to the vet. He had a sinus infection and had to have his eye removed.
He loves to run around like crazy but his favorite thing to do is bushwhack. We think he was the runt of the litter. He likes to act tuff but really likes to be loved.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409269653.jpg |

 "Smoke"

Rescue cat. He had some real bad luck in a past life before I got him - missing some front teeth, his claws were removed, his tail is crooked from some kind of terrible accident in the past (I should have named him Fibonacci - too late) and he has a tendency to pee in places that aren't his litter box....
The good! He's mellow, follows me around like a dog, good around kids, very playful, good companion.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409270892.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409270920.jpg |

Total let-down. Thought it was going to be a real CAT thread...

 This is Maguire.
Partially in the photo is Spanky (rip). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409280861.jpg |

Milo (RIP) and Twiggy. My wife jokes that she is jealous of Twiggy, as that cat follows me around and insists on being on or near me. And if my wife comes and sits next to me on the couch Twiggy will invariably jump up and try to sit between us.

I don't dislike cats, they are purposeful, and quite useful if given the chance. |

 This is Suri, an Abyssinian:
http://rinty.smugmug.com/Other/cat-s...7%20134-XL.jpg And Shiloh, a Balinese. He's not just a pretty boy, but is an excellent mouser: http://rinty.smugmug.com/Other/shilo...7%20137-XL.jpg |

He and his brother (Tucker) are outside cats and have a pretty good life here....showed up as a litter of 4 orphans 8 years ago and now we're down to just the two males.

This is KING - best cat I ever had. Rescued as a baby kitten in a huge rainstorm on Highway One in Holly Hill back in the late 80's. Was with me through 5 moves - even got lost once and got him back through a classified - must have hopped in someone's truck and wound up across town. RIP Kinger.....

This is Jinxy he is a Persian we have had him for about 10 years. When my kids begged me for a cat I was not to excited to give in because I was never a cat person but over the last 10 years I must admit that he is probably my best friend.

Manny, an Ocicat, on his favorite piece of furniture.
Gets pi$$ed if I move, extremely verbal and will leave a mark. He's got 2 buddies, Nigel, a Savannah, and George, a blue point Himalayan. Will post pics of Nigel and George when they decide to grace me with their presence.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427201.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427245.jpg |

I've always had cats around except for a few years after our last set of kitties passed away from old age (both 18+ years old). That was hard.
We got two new kittens last year (Jake and Elwood): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427068.jpg More recent pics: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427168.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427187.jpg They are very well socialized and the nicest cats I've ever had. We have a new stray, Sam, that adopted us this spring. He didn't like people at first, but had him checked out at the vet (disease free!) and brought him inside. He's not well socialized; it's like having a cautiously-affectionate miniature black panther in the house. (He pounces on you from above out of nowhere once in a while.) Here he is with a bandaged foot: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409427503.jpg |

 Nigel granted me an audience.
He's a Savannah (part African Serval) and chirps and yodels. No meows. Raw chicken legs with bone are his primary diet. Best not to get near him when he is feeding. Can jump from floor to top of fridge and leap from there 10-12ft to my shoulder, usually uninvited. Fully clawed, as are all 3 of my cats. The marks do not buff out!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409428569.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409428590.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409428609.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1409428623.jpg |

Here is a nice shot - at least I like it - of Rio, our Maine coon, putting an Amazon book box to its highest and best use.
