what's the deal with Google Chromebook ?
My youngest son just came for a visit and he brought along his Chromebook, he said it does everything he needs it to do. So these are like a marriage of smart phone/tablet/laptop ? Why would you get one of these over a tablet ? Or why buy a tablet over a Chromebook ? Really just curious at the moment but if/when I have to replace my laptop I wonder if this could be an option.

Chromebooks require a web connection to do most things. They are essentially a browser, screen, and keyboard. There is very limited local storage or local apps.

My opinion: An Android tablet and Chromebook are almost functional equivalents. To me, the advantage of a Chromebook is the larger screen, included keyboard, and battery capacity at the expense of portability. (I just can't get used to working on a tablet with the goofy virtual keyboard - bring back Grafiti!)
