Tulsa is most Dangerous city in US?

http://m.news9.com/story.aspx?story=26510544&catId=112032

I'd like to see more metrics on that. I've been all over OKC and Tulsa, and never felt that unsafe. Been in the "bad" hoods late at night etc. I've been to other cities, NoLa or Houston for example where I wanted to get the hell out of there.

WTF is mylife.com? Poorly written, sources unclear, no info on how they weighed their results, odd combo of data to constitute "dangerous". Just another stupid blog to ignore.

I call BS on that.

I travel to Tulsa very regularly and its a great city. Birmingham, AL is also a neat place and why is Orlando on there?

I smell poop.

No kidding. I looked at their numbers and can't find any way to get from their numbers to their rankings. I think they ****ed up their calculations. Not to mention, some of the categories are stupid. WTF does "Percentage of Population Enrolled in Health Care" have to do with how dangerous it is to live in a city?

I think someone screwed the pooch on this one. If I were the mayor of Tulsa, I'd be making a phone call or two...

I grew up in Tulsa.

It's only most dangerous in the U.S. trait is to motorcyclists. Folks there just don't look out for riders.

Santa Clarita, CA is #15, used to be in top ten by some ranking or another. IMHO, crime went up when they put in a few Walmarts. Not just shop liftings, but purse snatching, smash and grabs, etc.

Cursory look at the table of factor ranks - final ranking makes no sense. How can Birmingham be #3 and Tulsa #1, unless the formula grossly overweights number of police and health insurance enrollment, the least relevant factors. Or, quite possible, the freelance blogger in his pyjamas, churning out yet another hasty "article" for a few hundred bucks, doesn't know how to use Excel.

The internet is full of content farms, collections of cursory articles banged together in a couple hours by someone at their kitchen table for a couple $100. Their only purpose is to draw clicks. Oh, I can make $100 for a two page article about potty training kids - okay, surf the web, find five other articles about it, skim Wikipedia, crib a few phrases and put them in a list, done. About.com is nothing but this crap and I guess mylife.com is too. This guy was feeling ambitious, he probably put three whole hours into this piece.

I wish Google would have an option to filter out certain websites from search results.

Yup. The thought process of "I found it online so it must be true" drives me insane. ANYONE can have a blog.

Phoenix used to be known as the kidnapping capital of the world, even though the vast majority of "victims" were never reported missing and had voluntarily gone with their captors. Basically, every illegal alien found in every flop house was being counted.

Are you saying there are cities where people do look out for motorcyclists?

I thought New Orleans held that title for decades? Didn't make the top 10?

No its not, On this list its #185. Santa Clarita is #17 on the list of the safest cities in America. Crime has gone up as the population has increased.

Yesterday, Tulsa OK. became the most 'dangerous city' to try and street race against a 1998 S10 pickup truck.

Hot Rod Magazine's annual " Drag Week" came to a conclusion at Tulsa Raceway.

Drag Week (for those not familiar) is a week long event of street legal/licensed vehicles traveling over 1000 miles from state to state and racing at different drag strips. The cumulative results from each race decide the winner for each class at weeks end.

We were in Tulsa yesterday and saw five-time winner Larry Larson debut his newest 'street' car(truck).

He just finished the truck last week and is still sorting it out. But he managed to set the NEW, low ET for a street legal/licensed vehicle at 6.17 seconds. He never got a full bore pass made, still sorting out the chassis, etc - he had the laundry (drag-chute) hanging out by 1000 feet -but his 1/8 mile time on that run was 4.00!

Only a little more sorting-out and that 'street legal' vehicle will break the five second barrier.

Edit - If you ever watch the TV show "Street Outlaws" the girl (I forget her name) who also races a truck (and put hers in the weeds on a episode a week or so back ) was there. They never like to talk numbers on that show ( being it's street racing and no clocks). She was making passes in the 9.20 ET area.
