PPOT and Porsche Ownership

I was just curious how most PPOT enthusiasts got here, and how many people active on the PPOT forum own Porsches vs. sold the Porsche, vs. just use the forum for entertainment or social interaction.

I assume most started on one of the Porsche technical forums and then moved over when the car was either finished with restoration or sold...or maybe, posts of nagging mechanical issues just got boring. I was pulled over by the Dog Thread

Way back when in the almost dark ages of the internet I was looking for a forum (vs. email list) about Porsches

Of course, 356talk has since moved on to being forum based, but I'm not paying $ every year for a magazine and forum access.... so here I (still) are.

I own 2 p - cars just don't post often. But come here almost daily. Some times 10 or so times a day. I enjoy your wit and humor.

I still drive my 78 SC but in all honesty I've been thinking about selling it recently.

Although, I've heard so many "I regret selling it" stories and the rising values of earlier air cooled 911s give me pause.
I guess I'm stuck with it for now but if (when) it's value rises well above what I paid for it 14 years ago I'd find it hard to resist.

Maybe a 964/993 later? Or I'd even consider a later water pumper for daily duties.

I'm addicted to the "MORE Random Pics" thread. If I only had a dollar for every time I yelled to my wife..."HEY BABY, YOU GOTTA COME SEE THIS!!!"

I actually started on Rennlist in the 930 forum. Purchased Wayne's engine building book to assist with my rebuild, started ordering parts from Pelican, and began exploring the Pelican technical forums. I found OT and very much enjoyed the discussions, so I just stayed. I let my Rennlist subscription expire many years ago, but I do find their 993 forum much more active than the one on Pelican.

I'm on my 3rd air-cooled 911 during the time I've been here.

But...If you sold it, would you still frequent PPOT?

Even though my Porsche has been sold I will continue to enjoy this forum. I don't think I will miss it especially during the next six months.....the Boxster that is!

Two air-cooled 911s since I started logging on here, five in total over the years.

I stayed German and buy my Mercedes parts here as well.

still have my '79sc, has not run in a few years..... waiting for some kind of cash and motivation to appear.

replaced crashed 550 replica with an intermeccanica speedster.

really enjoy the time spent on ppot.

looking forward to the cny meet and greet here at the cafe, and the ensuing drive, i am trying to loop together a few good roads for us.

Found PP when I drove an '86 Carrera. Sold it and was w/o P-car for 10 years. Now in a '03 Carrera.

Currently own 4 air cooled cars, 2 are project/parts cars. I don't think there was ever a time in my time here on pelican where I did not own at least 2 p cars.
I'm temporarily burnt out on the Porsche thing though. I'm sure it is just a phase, but I am taking a little break on my own cars for now. Have not even started, or moved any of them this season. Been playing with trucks for the last year.
Found this place looking for parts, and was entertained by OT. With recent events in my life, I have been spending less time here, but still enjoy it, and check in daily .

Well, roughly 10 years ago, I purchased an 82 SC, and somehow found this place. I'm now on liquid cooling, but I can't leave. I've got a problem. I admit it.

I sold my 911 a couple of years ago; I don't think I could afford to buy another one.

I always have at least one, typically of the water cooled variety. Currently a 997 and 987, though that could change tomorrow. Regardless of Porsche status I'll still be here, I find this group to be the most unique cross section of American society that I've ever experienced. Lots of smart folks with a world of experience, there's rarely a question that somebody on here can't answer. This is a unique and special place.........just stay out of PARF.

Me too, but the 997S is soon to be sold for something more practical as a daily driver for my wife. Plus, my 2004 Cayenne S with 184,000 miles! aka "Beta". I'll be buried in Beta.
